What's new

Following Potential 2018 Draftees

I teach at Wichita State and go to most of the games (so that makes me an expert, right?). Shamet had a mid-season slump which likely hurt his stock. I'm guessing he'll stick around here for another year unless he explodes in the NCAAs. Vanvleet came through the program a couple of years ago and he's having a stellar career with the Raptors right now. Shamet plays a similar game to Vanvleet, but Shamet's got more hops.

If we're being honest Van Vleet's 1v1 skills are / we're so much better than Shamet's at this stage tho, Van Vleet tough as nails too, physically and mentally.

There's some old story about Van Vleet at the CP3 elite guard camp I'll dig it up, they make all the guards play a 1v1 tournament at the end and I think he won.. Shamet isn't built like that.

Aww man, I'm hoping to see him in the NBA sooner rather than later. Who knows, good end to the season could turn it back around.

The McDuffie injury has been paramount to many of Wichita St's issues, it's allowed teams to really hone in on Shamet.. It's a shame cuz I really like that C they have, he plays with so much heart.

Just another follow up: De'Andre Hunter, who I've fired off several warning shots here about in the last months, is now 1st rd quality on my board, call him #30.

He's like Marvin Williams coming off the bench for that UNC team... Thats probably the best way I could put it...

He has potential to be a scoring option... His moves, his fakes, his footwork their clean...CLEAN... CLEAN.. idk what more i gotta say..

He actually is so damn good it might benefit his pockets to stay another year and showcase for the LOTTERY....

Pointing out the obvious here, but the Jazz could really use a forward who is more athletic than Ingles, Crowder and Jerebko.

If we've got Mitchell/Rubio/Exum in the backcourt and Gobert at the 5, we need someone in between who can match that level of athleticism. Even Royce O'Neale jumps off the screen compared to our other guys. So did Thabo. It's okay to have one lunch-pale/glue guy like Ingles or Crowder on the floor, but when we get to 2 or 3 of them, it makes for a disadvantage. Elfrid Payton and Josh Jackson were blowing by our less athletic guys.

One thing that pissed me in last years draft was when the jazz drafted Tony bradley when Jordan bell was still available. The the damn warriors drafted him.

I can see something similar happen with Shamet. He would be perfect backing up curry like Livingston is doing now.

I'm fairly convinced Robinson is better than the kid from Tulane DX/ESPN has in the first rd, Melvin Frazier, their similar for sure... Early 2nd rd grade easily, actually I'd say fringe-first.. with room to rise for sure, this kid is gonna shine in team workouts.. Truly has a deft touch..

I think so too, man. But I thought the same about Hanlan and I went to BC so my bias blinds me lol.

Frazier is super interesting. Mike Scmitz wrote some stuff on him and supposedly he doesnt watch the NBA much at all. Didnt even know who DeMar DeRozan was until recently. He has probably heard of none of the Jazz players lmao.

Temple is absolutely housing Wichita St on their home-floor , and the games just begun... This looks like it's gonna get real ugly..

This has major resume ramifications... sheesh.. good time to evaluate Shamet... I always like seeing players with their backs up against the wall
