Following Potential 2018 Draftees

Spellman is a bull in a china shop, but he could be forceful in the paint and the jumper works well enough. Don't think he's much of a rim protector though.

He's not a bull in a china shop...... Spellman is a cool customer. This was on full display all tournament. He's got excellent game-sense and seems to rise to the occasion, whenever he got an open look from 3 he looks super confident.

any chance huerter is going back to school?

Maryland will be quite good and one of my highest priority teams to watch if he does.

They have this 6'10 big Jalen Smith incoming who's got 1st rd material written all lver him, he blocks shots and has a silky J, ive seen Myles Turner comps.

Also have a 4star swingman 6'6 Aaron Wiggins who's damn good and has a real chance.

The big question is how high could he go in 2019 tho, i'd say 12-20ish is feasible.

I think the thing for Huerter is that he's not a 1st rd lock. There are so many talented wings that are going to be available in the second half of round 1. Some are going to drop into the 2nd rd. If he drops into the 2nd rd this year when he could be a lottery pick next year, he's leaving a lot of money and a guaranteed place in the NBA on the table. It's a gamble to stay in, and it's a tough choice. I understand why he would want to fly back home and discuss it with his family.

A team i root for has one of the top 2nd rd picks and im really hoping Huerter falls to them.
I want Bamba in the 1st, Huerter in the 2nd, Will Barton, Cory Joseph and Thaddeus Young in free agency.

I dont have much hope tho, Huerter might be a 1st rd lock. He couldve gotten a promise which prompted this family meeting. I used to swear up and down the 2017 thread he was good enough to go in the 1st then, he was 30th in many of my mocks.

Trey Lyles sucks. Such a horrible pick.

He distracts himself farting on the bench.

Spellman, if he can keep his weight down, will be a very useful player for someone.

Meanwhile, no one can trust Lyles because he has the work ethic of a slug and the attention span of a squirrel. Once millsap came back he rarely played.

He sucks.

Yep.

Very rugged rebounder, always boxes out, plays hard, and has a smooth shot.

Unlike Lyles who stands around, never plays hard, and bricks everything he chucks up.

The first overall pick isn't even 20 million guaranteed.

The sooner you get in the nba the sooner you get to your 2nd contract.

I forgot about the rule change but the decision point still stands. If a player goes in the late 20's he is guaranteed about 2.5. Grow another year in college and break into the top ten and you are doubling that or more.

Add in the fact that top picks are usually on bad teams so you'll get more PT. Plus, young top picks tend to get retained the full 4 and a QO. Easier sell to the fanbase with players like Exum than letting a late pick walk after 2 seasons. GMs don't want to get fired over busting on early picks either, so I imagine bad teams put extra emphasis on high draft pick development.

Spellmans weight doesnt concern me either. The real 'danger threshold' is like 17% bf% or higher according to DX's database and he was like 12 or 13%right? He's clearly trending in the right direction, the before /after pics are convincing.

Body fat is a curious metric anyways if fluctuates daily and these players have plenty of warning to trim down. Whats CP3's bf% right now? How bout Ray Feltons? I do believe theres something to that threshold around 16 or 17% tho for potential draftees, after that according to dx's database the talent level nose dives into g-league level talent, and IIRC there are no outliers to this treshold.....

The question with spellman is how much Draymond Green does he have in him? Having strength and length means jack if you don't make the right reads on D.

@Dr. Jones This Kira Lewis kid looks truly awesome. I'm a HUGE fan/believer in his talents. I just recently went thru his footage and it's undeniably dazzling. He's NBA starting PG quick, easily. Looks like a lotto pick to me. How was he so underrated? Lol

I saw Nfaly dante play 2 summers ago when he was 6'7. He's scary good already, looks like Serge Ibaka already its rediculous, he's a lock for the top5. UK must get these kids.

A Lewis / Maxey backcourt would be a buzzsaw just chewing thru defenses... That'd be one of Cals best guard pairings tbh....

Bruno Fernndo announced he is returning to Maryland. Not a good sign of things to come for Huerter staying in the draft.
