Following Potential 2018 Draftees

I'd like to see the Jazz get another player who can create his own shot off the dribble. When defenses switch everything, all of our hand-offs and side-to-side passes don't accomplish much. This is where I'm a bit down on DD, Allen and even Huerter. We want another guy who can score in isolation as well as play in a system. Guys like Simons, Okobo, and J. Robinson can beat their defender, create their own look and score at 3 levels.

Honestly, I think the discussion should come down to Simons or J. Robinson, unless Okobo is clearly BPA. Imagine the Jazz having two athletic scorers who can play both on and off the ball instead of just one.

Now that the Croatian finals are over wonder if we'll get Musa in for a workout. The Pacers are working him out I see.

That's what I've been saying all along. Our biggest need is another player that can create their own offense. DM is really the only guy we have that can do that consistently. Lonnie Walker and Elie Okobo are my favorites as shot creators that are possibly within range but we might have to trade up to get one of them. Zhaire Smith is also a trade up option IMO. He doesn't have the handles or ability to create right now, but given his age, elite athletic ability and high bball IQ I think the development staff can help get him there in time. If we stay at 21 Simons or Donte D might be the best options. Donte D has the necessary athleticism and he's flashed the ability to create. I think that he has more than what we saw at Villanova. That team was stacked and he was asked to be a sniper. Huerter could also be an option but he seems more like an off ball offensive player who comes off screens to catch and shoot. If we trade down or get another late first or early second Robinson or Allen could be options.

The problem is they're small. You could go sign any decent free agent 6'2" PG and have two playmakers. Who is going to guard James Harden and Klay Thompson though. Yes they can score on anyone, but holding them to 25 points instead of 35 matters.

We're the #1 defense in the NBA. Defense is not a problem. Nobody is going to stop great players like Harden or Klay from going off if they get red hot but we're already well equipped to slow them down enough. Look at what Dante did to Harden in round 2. The problem is that when we face the Warriors and Rockets we don't have the necessary ammo to keep up offensively.
