Following Potential 2020 draftees

Saddiq Bey can shoot, although the mechanics are little funky. I'm just not sold that he's going to provide much else. He's gonna be a passable NBA level athlete at best. He doesn't have NBA level wing skills. I think he's gonna end up playing the 4 in the NBA. Biggest misconception about him is the idea that he is "3&D". He's not some lockdown iso defender. He was a solid team defender on the college level and if you draft him you hope that translates because in one on one defense he's going to have trouble with the speed and size he will face. His hips are a little tight. I could see the Jazz being interested. He's a good scheme fit. But I wouldn't love him as the pick to be honest. I think that the consensus has him waaayyy too high.

Tyler Bey is a fantastic athlete and a really really good defender. I just don't buy any of his offensive game beyond being able to dunk. He doesn't have wing skills. I don't buy his jumpshot ever getting to the point where he's shooting better than maybe 30% from 3 on volume. The massive problem he faces is that he's not big enough to play center like a Precious Achiuwa or Paul Reed. If he could I would be much higher on him. A team can survive and even thrive with a limited offensive center. But a limited offensive wing? That's extremely tough. He's another guy the Jazz probably have interest in but I wouldn't love the pick.

These days I see conversation about Tyler Bey, which is nice. However the more I see him mentioned the less it's paired with talk about his rebounding --- which to me is rather strange....

I guess his agent's doing a good job... idk

Did this guy just say; "The massive problem he faces is that he's not big enough to play center"

If you watched Tyler Bey during his 3 seasons at Colorado the most common "NBA play" you'd see him making is just simply snatching all sorts of out-of-area rebounds with his timing and athletecism.

I'll throw one more name out there. Bol Bol.

Y'all think Poku is a better prospect than Bol squared?

It's interesting.

Bol was a better shooter and probably had better natural shot blocking instincts.

Poku is a better passer, is a more fluid athlete and I'd say has a slightly better handle.

If Bol had s clean bill of health I'd say he was a better prospect just because the production was more proven. Since he wasn't I'd say it's close. I'd probably go Poku.

But I was high on Bol last year and I'm high on Poku this year so

The ability to rebound doesn't mean someone can play center.

I like a player who can put the defense on its heel and terrorize it when he has the ball in his hands. Then add on top of that shooting and that makes that player an allstar. In addition, I love a player who has an impact on defense.

If the Jazz can't swing for upside with guys like Pokusevski or Hampton, and if solid picks like Saddiq Bey and Patrick Williams are off the board, I keep coming back to Paul Reed and Reggie Perry as multi-skilled bigs with starter potential. Josh Green is also a decent two-way wing prospect, but he could be off the board too.

The Jazz are likely going to lose Mike Conley in a year and Joe Ingles is getting older, so the Jazz could draft a guard/wing to play next to Mitchell both on and off the ball. That's why guys like Theo Maledon and Leandro Bolmaro could still be in play.
