Following Potential 2020 draftees

I wouldn't be expecting the Jazz to trade down folks. Tony Jones already tweeted that the Jazz view this pick as very important (because it is) and feel like they need a hit. He was tweeting about how important their draft position was last night.

The Jazz are in win now mode. They've already invested A LOT of money and assets into this team. They aren't surrendering an important asset to shed 5 million dollars.

I'm thinking more like our pick and Ed to Sacramento for Bjelica and #35

Something along those lines.

I think Brooklyn might take Ed Davis back to be their 3rd center if Nic Claxton isn't ready -- like Utah sends #22 + Ed + future 2nd to move up to #19. That assumes BRK isn't moving that pick in a bigger deal. BRK has a two-year window with KD under contract and they're in desperate win-now mode. They're willing to move their picks this year.

Of course the Thunder lose.

The Rockets are going to lose too aren't they. Then we'll lose both coin tosses and fall to 23. Right?

A team that falls in love with Jalen Smith, Jahmius Ramsey, Desmond Bane, Tyler Bey, Zeke Nnaji or Leandro Bolmaro (who could be stashed overseas) might be willing to trade for our pick. I'm just not sure what we can offer to move up.

Maybe. I'd hate to miss out on a guy over a meaningless summer league win.

I've had this horrible feeling since last night that because we won that game we're gonna fall from 20 to 22/23 and then Kira Lewis Jr or Aleksej Pokusevski (or someone else) is gonna get picked at 21 and end up being a star.

I don't think Kira Lewis will be on the board at #20. He's been moving up. But a guy like Tyrese Maxey or RJ Hampton could slip there, along with Poku. With Poku the issue is that he needs two solid years of development before he pays dividends, and not every team is that patient. BRK isn't going to be patient to develop Poku, and they're already developing Nic Claxton. So we could try to make a deal with them at #19. Another issue to be aware of is that the G-League may have a shortened season this next year due to covid. So there might not be the same opportunity to develop guys here. Poku might get stashed. That could cause him to drop a few spots.

The question the Jazz have to ask themselves is how they feel about Jaden McDaniels.

RJ Hampton is not gonna fall to 20 under any circumstances

Since we got the lowest seed, we should get the best pick
eh.. I feel like due to all he aftermath from the virus, this draft (and surely the next one too..), is gonna be more about the scouting that teams have been doing for years and that the order of the draft isnt gonna be as important as normal circumstances.

When you're drafting in the 20s, you pretty much have to draft the polarizing, underdeveloped, and under-scouted player with high upside in order to have a chance at drafting a star. You have to be willing to take some risk and draft a player with a high ceiling that several other teams overlooked--i.e., the Rudy Gobert or Andrei Kirilenko. In this draft, that would mean drafting Pokusevski or McDaniels. Maybe Paul Reed is a possibility if you think you can teach him how to shoot, but his shot may just be broken.

If we slip back to #22 or #23, I'm okay with Bolmaro and could settle for Maledon.
