I'm hoping for Ace or even Maluach at this point.
They desperately need someone with length who possesses some skill. I'm assuming Lauri is not here long term. Last night's lottery result was the nail in the coffin for that outcome. I get what they were trying to do with the Hendricks and Cody picks. Both Ace and Maluach project to be much better prospects.
At this point the best they can likely do is draft their Robin this year and then hope to get their franchise player in the '26 draft.
Tre’s going to end up going 3/4
Yeah he’s going 3/4God damn he won't be there at 5
I think Tre is the most versatile scorer in this draft. He can hit from anywhere on the floor. His range goes out close to 30 feet. He can beat guys mid-range in. He's developing as an isolation guy. He can also pass. He's really a better offensive player than Ace.
The argument for Ace over Tre is due to Ace's size, defensive potential and rebounding, with the hope that his high shot window will enable him to make some big shots. Ace should be like a more creative, more aggressive version of Trey Murphy III.
They aren't going to punt on Fox. They are in win now mode. They just have to determine how quickly Harper can get ready and if it's better to trade him or Castle to bring in a high level piece that fits around Fox/Wemby.I'm going to hop onto the "Tre over VJ" bandwagon. I'm watching more and more of VJ and I just don't quite see what others do in terms of clear and obvious star potential at the next level.
I'm feeling increasingly strongly that we need to move up. This lotto reminds be a bit of 2005, where we really needed top 3 and landed at 6. That trade up was franchise-altering and I pray we follow suit this year.
I don't know for certain if the salaries work for SAS to take on Lauri and give us back some flavor of trash. But we have the draft picks to make the move even w/o giving up Lauri if they don't want him. Giannis is probably their top priority but Wemby + Lauri (Wemby + anyone, really) would be lethal.
If they do stand pat, part of me wonders if they'll punt on De'Aaron Fox and build around Wemby, Harper, and Castle. I have a hard time picturing Fox + Harper together in the same backcourt. Each may be a tick too ball-dominant for it to work seamlessly.
