Fears is nice. Clearly behind Tre / Ace in my book but ahead of Kon + VJ.

I really don’t want a pure scorer that plays no defense and brings little else to the table. I just don’t. I think Fears is a fine prospect if you don’t care about defense, but I care about defense. I am somewhat flexible on the defense if they seriously elevate their teammates, but I’m not seeing that. A lot of the same could be said for Tre. Fears will be harder to hide, though, and he is for sure a worse shooter so he would be a big disappointment if they go that way.

I’ve watched Fears. I also watched his game against Texas a&m where he literally scored 0 points.

I don’t care how dominant he was. I don’t want another small guard on the Jazz (6’5” wingspan) that can’t shoot from the outside.

I think the Jazz would take Fears or Kon if both Ace and Tre are gone, but everything depends on how the first few picks play out.

There's another possibility here, which is that Fears does go at #5, but the Jazz trade back a spot or two and still take Tre Johnson. Meanwhile the Jazz could move up from 21.

3) Sixers take Edgecombe
4) Pels or Nets trade up with the Hornets to take Bailey
5) Wizards swap picks with the Jazz to take Fears (to block the Pels or Nets)
6) Jazz take Johnson

Jazz move up from 21 to 18 with Washington.

Ainge starting to talk about toughness is when I knew Tre to the Jazz was dead.

Who is the toughest player in the 3 - 9 group? Maluach? VJ? Tre? Bailey? Fears is tough like an ant? Kon? I dont know that I believe any of those guys are the definition of TOUGH.
