I think Riley is interesting, and like I've said I can see a scenario where he is better than Kas, but it requires him really shooting it and a team being willing to let him develop as a ball handler.
The point is that even if he was great physically, he needs to be better at basketball. I don’t think Riley’s frame is preventing him from being better than he is.
He's one of the most complete players in the draft offensively. He was better than Kasparas the last half of the season.
If the bar is very low, yes. I think if Riley was actually very good at something, we’d see things like his shooting as a weakness. It seems like he’s more complete because nothing stands out about his game.
I think what makes him boring (boring isn’t necessarily bad) is that he’s average/below average at most things but isn’t great at anything. Unless you’re a synergy iso percentile truther.
I’m kinda automatically out on anyone that hasn’t demonstrated any of the following at the college level:
-above average defense
-exceptional shooting (has to be efficient or at least good at difficult shots)
-activity stats
-some weirdo outlier with a singular/magic combination of attributes
Riley looks to fit the bill to me but I should do more research.
If CMB is available at #21, I think that's a no-brainer.
Not if any of Yang, Riley, or Fleming are available
