Following Potential 2025 Draftees

There just isn’t a comp for a guy his size with his handles, vision, wiggle, passing chops, IQ, and shooting. But let’s play:

-unathletic Ben Simmons with a jumpshot and suspect defensive ability
-Bigger Hedo Turkoglu
-Franz Wagner in Mo Wagner’s body
-Jumbo Jingles
-Jumbo Kyle Anderson
-Olynyk with a bag and handles and even better passing

We have seen enough dudes that are supposedly disqualifyingly unathletic make it and even dominate in the NBA. The traits common to all of them is that they are a step ahead of almost everyone else on the court, they are big, they use passing as an effective weapon, and they can shoot the basketball.

Just wanted to also follow up to mention that of Wolf has a significantly better BPM than anyone in the consensus top-6 other than Flagg (who absolutely dwarfs everybody). Wolf actually has a better defensive BPM than offensive. He’s also the best player on the best team in the 2nd best conference in CBB. He will go top-10 and if he doesn’t then it’s a mistake.

I don't know if he'll go top ten (I kind of doubt it), but I'm not going to argue that he shouldn't. I don't personally have him that high, but it's because I'm not really sure if he can shoot or not. He's also not super old, but as an upperclassman I would expect a little more consistency.

He’s creating a brand new player archetype, give him a minute. The role he plays right now (basically running point on most possessions) is one that he just started doing this year (after transferring from the Ivy League).

He’s shooting in the high 30’s from the low 30’s earlier in the season. He’s also turning the ball over like crazy but refer back to that he’s new to this, blazing a trail, and still has a crazy good BPM (+9.6). He’s going to figure it out and have game-bending ability at the next level.

He reminds me of Diaw, but like Diaw....I think he's probably more unique than he is good. I only count 6 prospects who I think are top 10 worthy, so I won't rule him out of being drafted top 10, but I think concerns about his shooting, defenses, and role in the NBA are reasonable. Like it's cool to have a 7'0 chunky PG and it's unique, but is that actually game bending versus having a PG of normal size who does those things better?

Also, just a side note about his BPM. BPM has a weird interaction with bigs who can pass. On the whole, BPM does a decent job, but in these edge cases with playmaking bigs it can make the offensive/defensive split very wonky. He deserves credit for his total BPM, but I wouldn't read much into the offensive/defensive split.

Only one of those that makes sense to me is jumbo Kyle Anderson imo.

Dalano Banton, Kyle Anderson, Aleksej Pokusevski. Those are 3 players he's probably most closely related too as of recent NBA players.

If you squint hard enough while watching Carter Bryant highlight videos you can convince yourself you're watching Jayson Tatum.
My first time watching him was today. I totally see the Tatum style. I actually really like his highlights but obviously that just shows the good stuff. The percentages are not great at all, but his shot looks good and I feel like he is one of those players could get much better percentages as he gets older and can focus more on it. I imagine his lower usage rate and minutes may contribute to bad shooting percentages as he can't get as good of rhythm. I really liked his willingness to pass.

My issue with Wolf on the Jazz is that's he pretty redundant to Filipowski and I would rank Filipowski as the better prospect, so I would be more inclined to look for other types of players to fill out the roster, unless he's like the 20 pick and every other interesting player is off the board (possibility).

This pass out and box out (without just standing and watching the shot) are so good

FWIW here are the guys I would have in contention for 7 currently. Also FWIW all of these guys could drop to the 20's on my final board as well. Things are still very fluid for me:

- Fland - Most exciting film for me of the non top 6 guys.
- Khaman - The best true big prospect in the draft which will be coveted by many teams
- McNeeley - Very high floor with some upside
- Philon - I'm a sucker for a guard that can really defend, and I think he's the most talented.
- Queen - Extremely skilled and productive young big.
- Traore - Will be really good if he can shoot

So 2 guys that might end up going back to school (Fland/Philon), 2 guys that I really don't like at all (Khaman/Queen), a guy that is extremely boring (McNeeley), and a guy shooting 40/29/71 shooting splits (Traore).

I see Aaron Gordon/Peyton Watson type prospect. Like him a lot.

What PG in this draft does PG things better? Furthermore, the most important advantage that being tall (specifically) confers is seeing the floor and the ability to get the ball over the defense. It is a huge benefit.

Like passing on drafting Jokic cuz you already have four bigs.
