I'm not so sure, AA sounded definitive about the whole non tanking stance. He could have given a more diplomatic, non answer like JZ has given before but he choose to be more direct and reject intentional/deliberate tanking altogether.

Does anybody remember the 2020 draft enough to remember how Tyrese Haliburton dropped to 12?

I did not pay attention to the draft much at that time, so I really don't remember. I'm going back through some of his college numbers and film, and he definitely pops. It's easy to say in retrospect, I understand, but I'm curious what people were saying at the time. Was it just a COVID thing that nobody trusted any of the data at the time?

I did not pay attention to the draft much at that time, so I really don't remember. I'm going back through some of his college numbers and film, and he definitely pops. It's easy to say in retrospect, I understand, but I'm curious what people were saying at the time. Was it just a COVID thing that nobody trusted any of the data at the time?

Haliburton's ball handling was very questionable for a PG and his shooting form was so bad that people were concerned he wasn't going to be a good shooter in the NBA. Those two combined with his ehh athleticism made him drop, but he was ranked around 7th or 8th on big boards.

No ****, I constantly admit that feature X or Y may not actually be that valued by the Jazz despite the possible connection. Especially after Cody Williams was such a bust that the Jazz changed tons of their front office. But it feels more interesting than going "Ace is #3 on mock drafts based on very little info so far so the Jazz would never have Kon/Fears/VJ ranked over him."

But I'm a little surprised the AA comments about wanting tough and team-first players hasn't made more people fade the chances of Ace and Tre.

Can you give us the names of the front office staff that was changed? It was such a wholesale slaughter that there has to be quite a few of "them" no matter who they are right? These are people that we should be able to look up, right? Did any of the reports that you got this from list any names?

He was considered a low ceiling player because he wasn’t a big time scorer. Also very ugly shot and poor handle. Funny enough, if you look at some scouting reports of Shai you’ll find the same thing. We can have an idea of “potential”, but something we also have to accept is that we can’t actually know a player’s ceiling or floor. It’s a flawed way of thinking.

It was two scouts. No one with decision making power got fired.

I guess when he was drafted skinny frames were still a big negative and guys like him and SGA fell. SGA also had quite awesome college numbers but found himself outside the top 10.

You could get away with lot more defensively, so being strong and able to overpower bullies was more important. Now its more about length and perimeter play.. both defensively and offensively.

KD was also questionned when he was drafted despite being the best college player of all time. People said he will be a bust because he cant bench press enough.
