Following Potential 2025 Draftees

Again, compared to what. You can very easily counter this argument. Just say what decent means here.
Tre's FTRate is the second lowest from players projected to go in the lottery. The only one with lower number here is Ace Bailey

Free throw rates(in college) by some of the players being mentioned here:
- Tre Johnson .265
- Tyler Herro .235
- Jamal Murray .285
- Cam Thomas .440
- SGA .464

SGA was not the monster he is now in college, but as you can see even in his college stats you can see a certain level of aggression and foul drawing ability.

Murray, Herro, and McCollum are the three guys I would look to who have very difficult shot diet but are still relatively efficient because they are they elite of the elite on making those shots. Free throw rates and Rim rates almost always go down in the pros, and when they do go up it's usually a result of shift in role.

I think Tre has some efficiency gains to be made by just shooting more 3's. He didn't actually attempt as much as you'd think at Texas. Trading some of his long 2's for 3's will help him a lot.

BTW, I just watched a bit of Kasparas Jakucionis... I don't know what to do with him... I'm so torn... He has a lot of good statistical indicators. And he obviously is skilled and knows how to play... I just cannot shake that feeling that a lot of what was working for him in college will simply not work in the NBA. There were so many plays where I thought... "Oh nice... nice bit of craft here... no way this works against NBA length/athleticism, though, right?..."

lol... Tre standing reach is 8'5" height 6'4.75" and wingspan 6' 10.25.

Kon standing reach 8'5.5" height 6'5" and wingspan 6'6.25"

Its just math. Myles Byrd with almost identical measurements (slightly smaller wingspan) came in 1.5" higher in standing reach.

He still has a good vert... but for comparison to others historically... go ahead and take an inch or two off it.
Was just looking at the vert measurements and loling cuz I was like "damn does McNeeley have bunnies" he has a 36.5 inch vert. Then I looked at the anthro... dude wins the Pat Connaughton award this year. Shade under 6-7 barefoot 6-8.5 wingspan... and an 8-3.5 standing reach lol.

Lebaron Philon is 4 inches shorter, 2 inch shorter standing reach... and miraculously has the same standing reach.

Players will have different reaches based on tons of factors. Tre is right there with everyone who is around his height/wingspan +/- 1-3 inches.

Essengue has a modest wingspan and ridiculous standing reach. It's a result of freakishly long arms but extremely narrow shoulders. I suppose the opposite could be true with very broad shoulders and shorter arms leading to +wingspan and -reach. But 9/10 it's just to sandbag the vertical measurement, because it works! People love to talk about the vertical leap.

Anyways, even if we perfectly measured vertical jump at the combine, do we care about how they play the game of basketball?

McNeeley was the obvious measurements manipulator at the combine! The moment I saw that 36.5 and I had seen him practically never leaving the ground in-game, I knew to go straight to his standing reach. This is grotesque manipulation if I've ever seen one....

It won't be plus 1-3 inches lol. Did you actually go look... its just not true. Its minues 1-2 inches... which is exactly what I said. Its okay... its still a great vert but he is not in VJ's class there.

I'm not sure what it's called, but the standing reach + the vertical (I believe total reach or vertical reach) is the number that's important as well as the number that I believe they are actually measuring.

It would take some time to adjust to, but I don't know why it's not talked about at all or easy to find.

The best ways to judge athleticism are:

Useful:
Did they do the athletic things on the court?
Do they look athletic on film (actual film not highlights)?

Somewhat useful, but easy to overemphasize:
Measurements

Not Useful:
Testing

I don't quite understand, how are measurements useful for judging athleticism?

I also disagree that testing is not useful at all.
