Following Potential 2026 Draftees

I have a hard time seeing the Jazz invest their top-8 pick in a relatively small guard this year (e.g., 6'3"). It would be a different story if Keyonte hadn't taken the leap that he has. However, I think the Jazz are looking for someone who fits well next to Keyonte, Ace and Lauri. I think Mikel Brown wouldn't be completely ruled out, since he has some star potential and he's big enough to play next to Keyonte in the backcourt, but I'd be surprised if the Jazz went with Flemings, Philon or Acuff, even though they're all good
players. I think one of these guys would need to completely blow the Jazz away in pre-draft for the Jazz to take one.

I'd also be a bit surprised if the Jazz drafted Quaintance, the reason being that at this stage he's a non-shooter (sub 50% FT%). He's a beast and possibly the most impactful defender in the class, but I don't think teams will view him as a top-8 guy due to his lack of offensive polish. IMO he might be late lottery or mid-teens when it's said and done. The Jazz seem to like space, movement and shooting, and Quaintance doesn't really fit that model.

If the Jazz end up in the 6-8 range, I think they'd be looking at Avadalas, Lopez and Tounde--2-way wings and forwards who are starters and have some upside. Maybe Carr makes the shortlist as well.

Philon and Flemings would be fine next to Keyonte, in my opinion, because they don't need to dominate the ball and can both play defense. There is no way I would take Lopez or Avdalas with a top 8 pick with the Jazz's biggest weakness by far being defense. We'll see what Tounde and Carr do in conference play.

I mostly agree on Quaintance being a big risk when you have Kessler as a mostly non shooter, however, there might not be a better bet in the draft at solving our defensive issues than Quaintance.

Wagler got under-recruited because he played at a regular HS and didnt play travel basketball. His HS team actually won back to back state championships his junior/senior year. Illinois recruited him hard while he was still ranked in the 200's in his junior year, which boosted him to 150 and he didnt rise since that point because I guess people stopped caring.

Fun Fact: Him and Craig Bolerjack went to the same high school.

Jazz must draft him just to see what nicknames Boler creates for him :) :) :) :)
