What's new

For ****’s and giggles

My thing is, how many more draft picks do we really need? We are absolutely loaded with picks already. If the front office decides to trade off one or two of the vets for picks at the deadline, I could understand that...but I'm not interested in trading a 25 year old playing at an all-star level for future picks, especially since it's unlikely any of the picks would turn into a player as good as Lauri. At some point we need to get out of tear it down for picks mode and get into build it back up mode.

Min offer would be both of the Lakers picks unprotected. Would need to be something like that.

Seriously in 5 years those picks could be top 10 or even top 5

One trade I could see doing is if the lakers pick ends up top 4 and the pelicans, being in win now mode, value Lauri more than a guy who might take a year or two to contribute (especially after Lauri swept them this season lol). Then things could get interesting. We get a known sure thing top 4 pick (this trade gets made after the season is over obviously so both sides know what exact pick it is) to build around as a franchise player and they get a dude to add to an already very good core that maybe brings them a title. Of course there would probably have to be more to it for salary matching and whatever but that could work.
I would HATE to lose Lauri but it would be kind of cool to see what ainge could do with a top 4 pick, #11 pick (minny), #23 pick (jazz) and #25 pick (nets) in next years draft. (the jazz, minny, and nets/sixers picks are all just guesses of where they would be of course)

Again, this is the season of win win. We are so well set up right now in so many ways.

Wouldn't trade him and I for sure would not trade him unless we are getting back young proven talent. If the highlight is draft picks I say that is a big mistake. Again, he would be on my un tradeable list.

That's interesting. Most years I probably still wouldn't do it, but this year's draft is going to be so strong that you would at least have to strongly consider an offer like that.

Interesting point except if we traded laurie at the trade deadline we would lose a lot of games the rest of the year. Not sure we could stay at the 23rd pick

Ah, you didn't read my post. We trade lauri at draft time next summer. I would only trade him if I knew I was getting a top 4 pick. So it would have to be after the lottery is done with for me.

What would you guys say if the Mavericks came to us and offered their 25/27/29 unprotected 1sts plus pick swaps in 26/28 plus salary filler for Markkanen and Conley?

hell no those picks all late firsts making swaps also useless. besides who they sending to match? they couldn't imo without us getting worse.

Well… the only reason you even consider trading Lauri is for a monster package plus we get worse which makes our own pick better.
