Big hypothetical. What would it take realistically take for the jazz and trader Dan to trade away Markkanen, and pro’s and con’s to doing so?

Thoughts?

I’m not advocating to trade Markkanen, you don’t just trade athletic Mobil 7ft players that can shoot and defend 3 positions. But it’s something that should be explored as I’m sure multiple teams have probably inquired about his availability.

It would likely take multiple unprotected first round picks. Athletic and skilled 25 year old 7 footers that can shoot don't grow on trees, so I'm sure it would take a huge offer for Ainge and company to consider it.

I'm definitely in favor of keeping him long term...he's a legit #2 option on a championship level team.

I wonder if we could get a top 10 guy that becomes disgruntled also using a couple future picks and Conley or Beasley or whoever.

The Rudy Gobert package is my starting point.

A 7 foot stretch 4 who can space the floor, attack the basket and play decent defense? They aren’t easy to find. Especially when they’re young and on a great contract.

With how much growth he’s shown already, I’m going to need a Godfather package to even consider moving him.

I personally wouldn't do it, and I doubt he is a big enough fish for Dallas to get splashy with anyways, but Dallas could provide an offer I'd at least listen to. Lauri for 3FRPs and Bertans. I know people will bring up Porzingis, but Markkanen's offball and shot finishing without dominating possession would work with Luka doing his thing. They'd get meme'd for bringing in another white Euro, but I think it would work, though who knows if they think it would be enough to sell off their draft capital.

Like I said, I doubt Dallas does it, but they may get desperate to do something if Luka continues to have godawful body language on the court like this last week. Plus, betting against that Dallas team would still be a solid bet.

It needs an offer that includes at least one quite probable lottery pick in the near future or someone in return that has all-star written in him and is a point guard.

multiple unprotected firsts or I hang up the phone
I would take it one further, and say it has to be a known pick location in 2023, on draft day pick 4th overall minimum, and 2 pick swaps + a starting caliber player for matching salaries. OR 2 lottery picked, lottery level justified, high impact performing level rookies or 2nd season players, from 22 or 21 draft taken outside the top 7 like Jalen WIlliams and Josh Giddey OKC and to top it off they have to throw in Poku the stingbean playmaking big and their 2024 1st unprotected via Houston
