What's new

For those of you who don't like Jimmer...

Jimmer is also a senior, if you compare his last three years to any of the above they will pale in comparison. He is a decent pick but if the second pick is as high as #12 think Burks or Leonard would be better choices.

Burks shoots 29% from 3. Do we really want him?

He was 35% his first year, so is a bit similar to Hayward in that respect. His high FT% is usually a reliable gauge that he can become at least a decent shooter.
Other than that this guy is stellar though. Can create his own shot, moves excellent laterally on defense.

Burks or Leonard wouldn't be bad picks either, but so what if Jimmer is a senior?
That makes no difference, if they are going into the same draft it doesn't matter... it's all about what can you do now.
I guess you may be inferring that the non seniors would automatically improve their shooting percentages and that there is no chance they would decrease? There are many players that their percentages drop in later years, and their stock drops as well.
Jacob Pullen just this year was a pre-season all-american and he fell off the map because of his lack of production and drop in shooting percentages, and he is a senior.
I see what you are saying, but I don't agree.

Yeah I am rescinding my "inefficient volume scorer" comment I made earlier on him. Anyone with his shooting touch is going to have some role in the NBA and will never be a total bust. I guess the question comes down to does KOC feel confident with Devin Harris at PG. If not, Fredette might be the best choice.

There are so many question marks on most of the players in the draft.
Jimmer, can he turn into a legit PG as to being a good passer, and can he defend?
Most of the others, can they shoot.
The Tweeners, can they defend either position they are between.

I'm starting to get a little bit of a feel for some of the players in the draft, and these are the ones I am impressed with.
Sullinger, Williams, Irving, Fredette, Leonard, Brooks, Smith.

There is just something about the others that puts them down a notch in my book. I guess we will see what happens.

I think the best case scenario for Jimmer is like a Nick Van Exel when he played for Dallas. A 6th man type role who can score and create offense off the bench. He would be fun to watch that is for sure. If the Jazz pick him up with their own pick (if we dont make the playoffs) between about 12-16 I would not be against it.

Makes sense...unless you're Archie who thinks Jimmer will be the next Ray Allen.

Ray Allen and Reggie Miller will be like pond scum when Jimmer is through.
Their 3 pt shooting compared to Jimmers, will be like Shaq's to theirs.
They will put into NBA jam a new feature where the player is on fire, and has a halo..... which makes it so he can make the shot from anywhere on the court and it will never touch rim. Gospel music will be the background music.... it will be enlightening.

I think Fredette can start for a lot of teams. I think he'd be better than half the PGs in the league. He'd actually be a decent passer if he had anyone to pass to. If I'm Mike D'Antoni, I'd try to get Fredette. You can't teach IQ and effort, and Fredette has both. No way he can't pick and roll at an NBA level. He's a real shooter who can also create.

Ok, here's a mildly controversial statement: No doubt that Chauncey Billups became an elite defensive player, but on offense I think Jimmer can do everything Chauncey Billups can do at the pro level, and their offensive games look similar to me. I also think Fredette's career as a PG could be at least as good as Mike Bibby's. I could see Jimmer get drafted in the 9 - 12 range.

Jimmer is pretty likable so if the Jazz drafted him (with their second pick) it would be fun to cheer for him. More fun than cheering for DW. Don't get me wrong - Deron is a great player, but I hate to play with guys like that. Y'know, guys that get so pissed off all the time at all their teammates. It's more fun to cheer for someone like Jimmer.

Even though Stock didn't win a ring he was so much fun to pull for. It's more fun to love your players than to win with guys like Kobe.
...I imagine. -- I guess I wouldn't know.

I wouldn't mind seeing him with the 2nd Jazz pick. If he panned out to be a Reddick sort of player that wouldn't be bad.
