Yes. My point was signing Bazemore is not a cheap substitute for Hayward. Gordon CAN play SF. He played alongside Burks last season once Corbin decided to put the core5 in the lineup together late in the season. Subtract Hayward and the Jazz still need another SF.
gotcha
Bazemore can play a little SF as he has a 6'11 wingspan. Hood and Hayward only have a 6'8 wingspan. I know that is only a minor part but it still helps. He played SF on the Lakers a bit.
Bazemore is definitely a bit small, but his wingspan had me thinking he could play spot minutes at 3. The fact that he played 3 for D'Antoni doesn't inspire me much, though. Dunno.

Who has been just as inconsistent as Gordon. Two years ago he shot 42/33%. The difference is we're 2 years away from Marvin's lousy season, but our memories are fresh from Gordon's stinker.

Marvin is a backup. He'll be entering his 10th year in the league. I'd argue Hayward still has considerable upside.

Marvin probably wouldnt be paid 15 million per year

Ya he for sure couldn't play 3 full time. but spot minutes I think he would be fine. 10-15 a night at the 3 he could handle. If anything it would throw the other team off guard if the bigger 3's can't keep up with his speed.

He blew in LeBron's ear. So what? He had a pretty good series, and his coach had him guard LeBron, rather than use Paul George, a player widely considered a top-5 perimeter defender.

1. The Jazz rarely have the opportunity to sign quality/talented free agents at a discount price. The Jazz lack talent, Lance has talent and may be available at a decent (movable) price. If this team is ever going to truly contend again, they'll have to take some risks. I think this is the sort of risk they should be taking.

2. Here's the list of non-point guards who played 1000+ minutes and averaged at least 0.4 assists for every field goal attempt this past season:

Joakim Noah
Nic Batum
Tyreke Evans
Lance Stephenson
Josh McRoberts
Manu Ginobili
Andre Iguodala
Gerald Wallace
Nick Collison

Dude's not a chucker. Even on an offensively challenged team, he was fairly selective.

It was more than just blowing in the guys ear. He has gotten in fights with teammates and done other things. Once a knucklehead always a knucklehead. He doesn't chuck all the time but there were several times where he just started going one on one completely ignoring his teammates.

GH is not a max player and I would vote to not sign him for max money. However, given our current situation and even the next few years if we do match a max offer it really doesn't hamstring us. This is different than what we did with AK because the new CBA makes this more reasonable. Be interesting to see what Cleveland really does and then what we are willing to do.

It is not just about the cap space. IT is about setting a precedent with other players. How many of the other guys are going to say I put up numbers better or equal or just under Hayward why isn't my offer better/closer to his? It is about roster flexibility. It is about smart business. So do you pay $40,000 for a 25,000 dollar car because you like it more while there are other options out there that get the same performance but cost you less? I know it is easy to spend the Miller's money but you don't just spend money to spend money. It is not responsible business. MAX money should be for Lebron/Kobe/MJ type players. NOT Gordon Hayward.

Bill Belichick would take Lance on a good deal. Just sayin'.

In fairness, Bill B is one of the best ever and has been a HC for 20 years. He also has amazing veteran leadership on his team. This young Jazz team and their rookie HC, may not do well with that level of headcase on the team. Make no mistake, as good as Lance is, dude is a top 3 headcase in the Nba.

Thanks for making my point, Everyone of those teams regretted give those guys max money. The only one who deserved it was Amare and that is only if they had given it to before he got hurt. They gave it to him AFTER. You can't stop stupid.

Bill B. also signed Aaron Hernandez. So no matter how good a coach you are some guys are just not worth the trouble. FYI - no saying Lance is as bad as Aaron.
