Punch Bowl Re-Filler
Missed Capela. And I incorrectly added some cap holds for players that they can renounce (Hamilton, Daniels)I think they have to do more than that but I appreciate that you did the math. I read somewhere that they may not get there even if they got rid of everything that isn't harden or Howard so bosh won't get full max but close.
They also have a cap hold with Capella until like September ... Not sure if you included that.
Here's a better worksheet.
Howard
Harden
Parsons
Jones
Motiejunas
Caanan
Capela
Bosh
4 at minimum
12 player total
$ 21,436,271
$ 14,728,844
$ 964,750
$ 1,618,680
$ 1,483,920
$ 816,482
$ 991,000
$ 20,500,000
$ 2,028,000
$ 64,567,947
As mentioned, all exceptions, QO's (except for Parsons) and non-guaranteed contracts are renounced (which includes Beverly).
Only twelve players are counted in terms of being under/over the cap. With the cap at $63.1M, they'd have to clear $2M more (because they have to replace a traded player with another mimimum cap hold of $500K). If I were Utah, I'd ask for Jones and Canaan (filler) or Capela and Motiejunas in exchange for a 2nd-round pick. Capela is 1st round value and Jones is a plug and play veteran. Either deal works for me if I'm Dennis Lindsey.
Parsons, of course, is then retained and adds $13M to their salary total. But, since they've traded away $2-$3M in salaries, they're under the luxury tax. Morey is no dummy; he knew what the numbers were before telling Bosh he could get the max. Now it comes down to finding a taker for Lin. Not a huge cap hit, but that poison pill they put in the contract requires a big cash outlay.
Actually, Utah could take on that deal and it would help them get to the payroll floor which is calculated as actual payroll and not salary cap. However, I doubt they want to throw another PG In the mix. It would upset what they're creating with Burke and Exum.
