Fun info from tonight's jazz practice

Highlights from Snyder for me:

On the system..."The biggest thing for us is to understand spacing."

Two biggest points of emphasis..."I wanna see the ball move. And I wanna see us guard. Those are the 2 biggest things."

When Burke entered the interview area as SNyder was leaving Snyder said to the media "Tell Trey he’s gotta play defense!"

From Burke:

- Excited to play with Exum
- About Dand the coaches... "Kinda getting on us about making that a priority"

Burks just flat-out can't shoot off the dribble going left. His spot-up numbers where good from the left 3, but can't pull up going left.

Burks isn't anywhere near as good as Hayward.

Depends on your metrics.

Burks does a few things much better than Hayward, and those are things that a system should be able to use reliably and efficiently (slashing, getting to the line, etc.). While I agree that Hayward has a better overall/global game, when he's on a good team, there will be players with specific on-ball skill sets which are better/more efficient than Haywards on-ball skills (for example, Burks). This should force Hayward into more off-ball action. And, back to the bottom line: I don't want to pay that player $15mm a year. It's crazay talk.

Exum and Burks should THRIVE in Snyder's system. They can penetrate and kick.

So hayward (the "shooter") best from three is barely better than burks (suppossed poor shooter) average

Last year, yes Haywards best spots were barely better than Burks average. Burks best spots from 3 were well into the 40's.

2 years ago Hayward had one spot at 36% and the rest were at 40 or higher. One year does not a good/bad shooter make.

I like Burks improvement but I'm not writing Hayward off because he stunk it up from 3 last year even if it was a step in the wrong direction.

From what another poster said.... haywards shooting has got worse every year in the league.

Burks seems to be improving as the years go on and he gets more playing time.

Not sure if any of that matters to anyone but its interesting to me

Hayward averaged 1.1 made three point shot per game, and burks averaged .6 made three pointers. There is more to being a good shooter than having a good percentage on limited shots. Korver and Memo were great shooters because they took a lot of shots and made a huge percentage of them. Hayward was that way in 2013, when the floor was spaced better, and I expect him to improve as the Jazz offense gets more spaced out. Burks should as well, especially if he and Hayward continue playing alongside each other as they did at the end of last season.

Damn Corbin. If he hadn't been such a crappy coach, we might know if Hayward is ever going approach being worth this Charlotte offer or not.

Burks was one of our best catch and shooters lasted year at about 54%. Hayward was one of the worst in the league at close to 34%.
