Fun trade ideas “who says no?”

They’ve always been a thing, but I’m pretty sure the “Super Swap” terminology is a Jazzfanz thing. We’re collectively trying to speak it into existence. I haven’t really heard the term used anywhere else.
I see I thought it was a universal terminology.

Edey basically crushed Kessler and stole his soul in the Summer League game.

Stupid comment. Edey made 5 shots against Kessler (at the most. He made 7 shots total and 2 were wide open dunks with no one guarding him. Not sure all the other 5 were even against Kessler but I will be generous) and was blocked twice by Kessler. Zero free throw attempts. Oh and Memphis lost the game. Scoring 10 points in a loss isn't crushing someone and stealing their soul.

I feel like Super Swaps and International Players Rights are both highly underutilized assets that NBA GMs should leverage a LOT more than they do. Once you have other team’s unprotected picks, getting swap rights for players you otherwise don’t want/need should be a priority. It’s like adding a lottery ticket to your holdings, but somebody else payed for it.

And International Players Rights is a great way to buy low on young, unproven players and then let someone else invest the time and money to develop. Any 2nd round picks after 45 should be used on an international player with upside.

Super swaps were always a thing there just has not been a team in our position with 3 or more firsts in 3 different years in a position to get even more picks or swaps in those years.

I was thinking about it the other day. . . It would be pretty interesting if the Jazz decided to tank hard this year by trading Lauri, Kessler and Sexton - and can somehow convert them into a bigger haul of draft picks than they got for Gobert and Mitchell initially. That would be the most insane accumulation of assets I can think of.

Then use super swaps, draft picks and cap space to add future assets like the Spurs did this year. They’d have to hit on a franchise player before cashing in, but it’s not outside the realm of possibility.

Did you watch the game?

Edey was far and away the better talent. He looked bigger. His shoulders were wider. His screens were brutal. He out hustled and out rebounded Kessler at least twice that I saw during THEIR free throw attempts, which almost never happens.

Edey also played with more energy. Kessler’s body language was bad the whole game. Jazz winning that game had absolutely nothing to do with it.
