What's new

Future is bright for our boy Gordon Hayward.

This.
Even at 7/8 we get a stud player. And pick up another quality guy with the GS pick. Bring in Neto and there is an instant, 3-person upgrade to the core rotation. And these 3, plus maybe a GOOD FA or two replace guys like Lucas, Biedrins, Jefferson, etc. Remember, the Jazz still have decent cap space for another couple of seasons, even after the contracts for Favors and Jefferson. Big raise for Kanter and a decent one for Burks (maybe) in 2 seasons. Then some decisions will need to be made.

Draft.
We will be really bad cause none of our young guys have played much, burke injured, bench sucks.

We get our stud in the draft with our top 5 pick, still have our talented young guys (but now with more experience), lots of money to spend on quality guys to fill out the roster/shore up the bench, plus golden states pick.

We compete right away with that scenario.

Its really not that complicated..... the tank is going to work guys.

Next year we make the playoffs as a 6, 7, or 8 seed..... then in 2015 we start to be contenders for championship

It'll be interesting to see what kind of pieces we need to complement our core players.

Some guesses:
1. a legit stretch 4
2. a legit 6th man scoring machine (Burks? I dunno).
3. I have hesitations about us competing with Burke running things this year and next. Our PG situation is still incredibly uncertain. I like that Burke can spread the floor and play off the ball, so maybe Hay and Jabari can get us through.

We only have complementary players right now. We need players for them to complement.

We are missing a major piece, but we have more than Harprings and JYDs
Key pieces in today's NBA (roughly in order of importance):

Primary offensive hub
Rim protector
(team defense)
Secondary offensive hub
(team offense)
Perimeter stopper
6th man

The Jazz don't have a proven player(/system) for any of those slots right now. Favors, Kanter and Burks can still potentially fill the rim protector, offensive hub and 6th man roles respectively, but none are sure things at this point.

I'm saying basically the same thing
I think it's more likely the Jazz are missing (at least) two pieces. If the Jazz can snag a top 3 pick next summer that they think can fill one of the key roles, they should be looking to move other pieces to fill another. I like Hayward, but I'd be shopping him this season (more than the Jazz's other young players). Unfortunately, it's not everyday that these players become available (James Harden...).
