Future plan

On my way to salt lake yesterday with my business partner we got talking about okc and their problem with all these free agents hitting at the same time. They will have to resign Westbrook this offseason then James harden and serge ibaka the next. Harden is arguably the second best player on their roster and one of the best 2 guards in the game. After those 2 are signed okc is not going to have a ton of money to spend on ibaka unless they are willing to pay the luxury tax.

With that said here is my proposal for the future of the jazz. We all know that we have a glut of bigs and the 2 guard spot is pretty solid with Hayward and burks. The pg is awful and we desperately need a sf. 3 pt shooting is also important.

We trade millsap or jefferson, the gsw pick and maybe a future second to nab the Houston picks (still don't know why they want millsap and not Jefferson) we draft as rumored by pkm Terrance jones and Jeff Taylor. We also make a move to snag a late first and draft Jeff teague.

Now Tjones is a versital 3/4 that is a great player coming in off the bench and Jeff Taylor is a defensive specialist that can hit the 3 and is a senior so should be ready to play from day 1. Teague is draft to ride the pine and develope for a year or 2. I think the jazz like Teague.

Then in the summer of 2013 when Jefferson, Harris and Watson are off the books the jazz are is great shape financially. The have a lot of young studs and some money to spend. They make a huge play to sign serge ibaka. Say deandre Jordan numbers 4 or 5 years 45/50 mill. Okc with paying harden couldn't afford that unless they get rid of Westbrook. Also make a play for 1 or 2 mid level pgs for smaller contracts say 2 or 3 years 10/12 mill. like Eric maynor and or Darren collison.

Now you have a 3 headed monster at the big with ibaka and favors starting (best defensive tandem in the nba) and kanter off the bench. Tjones picking up some minutes at the 4. Great great front line.

The 3 has some solid players in jeff Taylor and Terrance jones.

2 guard has Hayward and burks

Pg has hopefully an improved Teague and collison and or maynor playing for the starter and minutes ( finally a good problem to have)

The next summer Hayward and favors are up for extensions and could get contracts like ibaka and still give the jazz flexibility.

2013 roster

Darren collison, Jeff Teague and maybe maynor (maybe not)

Gordon Hayward, Alex burks

Jeff Taylor, Terrance jones

Serge ibaka, Jeremy Evans (just to have his name on there)

Derrick favors, enes kanter

Minutes

25, 23
32, 26
25, 26
32,
30, 25

Or close to that

OKC will dump Perkins before they let Durant, Westbrook, Harden or Ibaka go. If they have to they can amnesty Perkins. I don't see anyway they let Ibaka go.

I like Terrence Jones but most people agree he needs to be a quick, athletic power forward and not a 3. He would struggle to get over screens and his outside shot is very inconsistent even from the college 3 pt line.

Darren Collison will probably be available and is IMO a very good backup point guard. Jeff Teague I expect to be extended by Atlanta. If you want to draft a Teague it would be Marquis Teague. I am higher on Marquis than most and would be in favor of drafting him or Lillard.

Living in Houston I believe that the Rockets are fed up with Kevin Martin. Also his contract ends at the end of the season.

I think a deal similar to this would work-

Jefferson
for
Martin
one of their first round picks

So next year we have a roster like this

Harris-Lillard/Teague/Marshall (whomever we draft at 14)-(3rd PG)
Martin-Burks
Hayward-Burks (Carroll)
Millsap-Favors(Evans)
Favors-Kanter-(Emergency Center-bring back Fess )

Hmm not sure if I like this but people down here are beating the drum for a big guy- a center. I doubt Millsap is who they really want. If they want our GS pick we need to get either Lowry or Dragic.

Hopefully Alec Burks (yes I know) will show some inner fire and drive this offseason and work on his shooting. That would be the single biggest thing he could do to improve his game in my opinion.

So you think Terrance Jones is dropping to the 14th pick?

I just played the ESPN Mock Draft machine and I kid you not it had T.Jones at the 14th pick to Houston.

Edit: Played it again and Detroit got the 2nd pick (MKG) and knocked the GSTankers down to 8th and Utah selected Marshall.

Jefferson for KMart and the latter of their firsts: dream scenario. gett'r done.

I'm sure Kmart would be great on this team defensively but I do not like the guy. Same reason I do not like Rondo. He seems like a punk.

You are thinking of the wrong K-Mart.

OH, the Rocket not Mr. ****** lips tattoo.

Also did you see my edit on the post you quoted? I played again and when Utah got the 8th pick they selected marshall as well. (lillard went 7th to Portland)

He actually got the lips covered I think, at least on one ear. I think it's a king's crown now.

I saw him during the final game agaisnt the Grizz and it looked like he just had the other lips turned brown from red so they didnt look as bad. Either way he is an idiot and I do not want him in a Jazz uni. Ever.

Id rather trade big Al and Harris to the Pistons for Prince, Gordon, Daye and their first round pick. Pistons would do it because it clears salary cap for them next year because they are tied down to Ben Gordon's contract. Plus they get a low post scorer to team up with Monroe and a veteran PG to help Brandon Knight better transition to the NBA.

The Jazz get a veteran SF in Prince who can spread the floor with his 3PT shoot and they get Ben Gordon who is inconsistent but can also spread the floor. Daye is a filler and same with Gordon to some sense but Gordon's contract comes off the books right when Favors and Haywards do so we could use that money to resign Favors and Hayward plus we end up getting the Pistons pick. Win-Win for both teams
