Gobert has been fantastic defensively all year. He's still incredibly raw offensively, and no reasonable person should've expected him to markedly better on that end based on what he showed last year. His hands are still iffy, and he doesn't have any post moves. But he's gotten better with positioning, screening and he's still active on the offensive glass. The key for the Jazz will be keeping him totally healthy.

To your first point, Hayward at the level he played against the Clippers (or somewhat close to it) puts the Jazz in the playoffs for sure.

I don't think he has been as good defensively. At least not to the eye test. I can link you the thousand threads where people talked about him being one of the best defenders of all time. He just doesn't look the same.

I think teams are just more aware of what Gobert can do, so there aren't as many highlight plays for Gobert.

I'd rather the players played at max intensity, and for some of them that means the F bomb is going to come out. Not everyone has the same upbringing as your kids.

Cool. Next time at max intensity at work I'm gonna try that. But I'm gonna do it on bring-your-kid-to-work day.

Rudy doesn't seem to have the lift in his legs atm .. he didn't get up for a few i thought he would have blocked last year. Some nice adjustments by Quin. Given the inconsistent play thus far to be .500 is decent.

I think Hayward has been the biggest difference between this season and the second half of the last. With him playing well, the Jazz are solid playoffs contenders.

I also don't think Gobert is playing as well as he did last year. No where near the intensity and determination, although he is still a difference maker on the defensive end.

Yeah, Hayward is the leader of the team no matter how many people want to say Gobert is. That's was always a laughable discussion to me along with Burks being the go-to-scorer. This is Hayward's team.

Opponents shoot 34% around him and there isn't anyone even close to that number. He's pretty much the same player, just isn't securing the ball on rebounds and catching the ball on offense.

Only thing that could be worse is taking your kid to a NFL game and they have to see Cam Newton dance after he scores a touchdown.
