To me, it feels like book six is the hardest to write. He's done all manner of story weaving, but at this point he can't really weave out much more. Now he's gotta find a way to weave all these plot lines back into a book that makes sense.

That's what I'm guessing. The hard part is making all the plot lines come back together in a way that is consistent and works with the ending he already has figured out. He's exceptional at being consistent within the universe he's created and he's created a pretty big universe at this point. I really do hope this is the hard part and book 7 will kind of write itself.

I've read the books but have been listening to them on audible recently, just got passed the Red Wedding. I'm excited to see what he does with the story because the show, while amazing and I'm way into it, has holes that GRRM would never accept.

Everything I've seen says he hasn't been doing much on it at all. My bet is we never see either of the final books, although I really hope I'm wrong.

Well he's been "close" on book 6 for like 3 years now.

The smart thing to do would be to lead the wights onto a battlefield that's been soaked with wildfire, put pots of wildfire about to serve as landmines, have one of the dragons ignite the fuseline and just encircle the effers in flames.

They wont do that though. They'll make Podrick swing away with a sword.
