Well, maybe a bit more talented, but way outcoached. it is always impressive to watch the Pops system and great it is. I wonder why more do not copy it. Pretty simple: get a good PF/center and a good penetrating PG. Surround them with 3 3 point shooters who camp out at the line spreading the D completely. Let the other two work the middle, passing out for the occassional and high percentage 3.
The Jazz have had this two by four slammed into their forehead time and again, yet they cannot seem to aquire the proper appreciation for shooters and the 3 ball. And defending it? Give me a break. Matt Bonner beat us last night. While Ty played the role of Ol' Jer, and losing again to Pops.

In the post game interviews the local reporters seemed to be trying to bait the Jazz into complaining about the refs by asking how a team can dominate in the paint (not just this game but Sun night as well) and it not show up by getting to the FT line more.
None of them took the bait that I heard and the only comments that stick out are CJ's who said (paraphrasing here) I'm not sure any player likes or agrees with the guys in stripe shirts, I know I don't. Also Corbin said (again paraphrasing) I thought we did good in the paint and it does get physical in there and you hope to get to the line but you just have to keep fighting out there.
Also wanted to add the Jazz played good enough to win and beat most teams last night so that was promising just to many 3's made. When you think that the Spurs were waiting in Utah on Sun. while the Jazz were playing in HOU I did like the energy the Jazz had.
Oh yeah I thought Harris played pretty good last night I hope it's a sign that he's breaking out of his season long slump. Howard also played better but still made some bone headed plays and TO's but better then the steaming pile he had been playing like.

Hard to beat teams when you fail to defend their strengths. Spurs love the 3-ball, always have. I do not know if the Jazz will ever realize it though.

Oh yeah nothing new at all and nothing we or the Jazz shouldn't have known as well. Bonner has usually played very well against the Jazz, would be nice if the players/coaches acknowledged it amongst themselves and don't let him get started early.
He's just another one in the list, Kleiza, Novac, Ayon (NOH) now Bonner. Those are the ones off the top of my head, at least the PG's going off on the Jazz are actually AS caliber players.

I'm not sure why more people aren't complaining about our offense?
Devin Harris NEVER creates.
Lin? Collison? Parker? Did anyone notice the hell they created against our defense? Is Tony Parker or Lin really that much quicker than Harris? Yet, I rarely see Harris even attempt to drive. Let alone get by his man and create.
The #1 problem with the Jazz right now might not be their outside shooting. It might be the fact that we have Carlos Arroyo running the point. Devin's gotta do something other than walk the ball up the court and waste the shot clock.

I'm not sure what it is with Harris. I remember that when he was with Dallas no one could stop him from getting in the paint. He's lost a step since then, and now it seems like he doesn't have any moves except just trying to run by someone. Guys like Nash, Andre Miller, and Rubio are nowhere near as fast as Harris, but they all can get to the paint much more frequently than he does.

Not happy with a loss but Utah played very well last night. The Spurs' PnR is very tough to defend as they have 3 guys lined up around the outside that will all reliably hit open 3s. Once Parker gets in the lane the defense is just severely compromised. That last 3 from RJ was a perfect example of a vet playoff team executing.
I know most of you guys hate Locke but his 'noggin blog was pretty much right in step with what I was thinking about the game once I slept on it. Good contributions from almost everybody. Sap was disappointing in that he never exploited Bonner the way he should have on offense.
IMO with time this team will be very good defensively as they are certainly improving against the PnR and at times shut down a championship level Spurs offense.
Utah won't have a real offense until we get more playmaking out of the PG and guys start cutting when their man doubles. Jefferson gets a lot of heat holding the ball but in the 4th when they'd double him I never saw somebody streaking to the rim. Couple of those plays and Utah wins that game.

Is it something in the water, the thin atmosphere, or just a problem with the Sloan and Sloan Jr. system? Deron did the same thing; he walked the ball up the court, dribbled until there was 10 secs left and then tried to initiate Sloan's play (or his own). With the youth on the team, the Jazz should be out and running. Then again, what does it matter...the ball is just going to go inside to Jefferson while the rest of the team stands around and waits for him to throw up a push shot over the double or triple-team.
