What's new

Game thread: Game #15 : Timberwolves at Utah, Saturday 01/21/2012 7:00 PM MST

Riffing off something Boone said, somebody has to remind Hayward that you can't score if you don't shoot. Must have been like 5 times he caught the ball on the perimeter off screens or just freeing himself up where he didn't pull the trigger. The 6 assists are nice, but at least 5 of them were for 15 to 20 foot jumpshots. He's got to figure this out.

Every time I hear Sidney Lowe speaks I can't believe he's not a classics professor. He'd fit perfectly at one of those academic functions with wine in plastic cups and cheese cubes talking about Voltaire to people who actually want to have those conversations.

Millsap continues to astound me. It's reached the point where his jumper is so effective that it IS an actual post game. He's getting himself shots from 10 - 15 that are like layups. And his percentage from that range is probably almost as good as most 4's from 5 and in.

I'd swear I thought I saw some matchup zone again with Favors/Kanter. I just can't tell. My mission, if someone will accept it, is for somebody with better matchup zone eyes than me to watch the possessions closely when Favors/Kanter are in. The few times I think I've seen it have almost always been at the close of the 1st and 3rd.

Thought Boone made an interesting comment that Ty has been preaching pinching off that corner 3 pass when a driver gets underneath. It's kind of a weakness of ours with how we now rotate because Al and Kanter have had more than a little trouble getting out there.

I'd like to see a lineup with Millsap and Favors like in the Philly game so Favors can play in the post where he's comfortable.

One thing I forgot. CJ's last 5 shots were with no time on the clock. It was an unreal stretch. But it did make me wonder how much of CJ's alleged (and real) chucker label is merited. He took a ton of shots last year in the last 5 seconds per 82games. Regardless, one thing is sure: when CJ goes to the basket, he's a very good basketball player.

Was impressed with Raja and Hayward tonight. Both filled up the stat sheet with the little AK things.
6 dimes for Hay? Raja was playing with great energy, and hit his shots.

Favors was someone that helped as well with the small things. His defense, boards, and blocks arent as sexy as offense, but I noticed.

The Raja/Hayward backcourt is not going to work longterm. With a Deron type point, it wouldn't be a problem against better teams. But since Harris isn't much of a threat, we've got one guy who needs the ball to find him to shoot, and another guy who just doesn't want to shoot.

Agree. I would go Hayward/Miles

After watching not-anymore-pesky Minny a couple of times this year, I thought that Ricky stopped flopping after he came overseas to play NBA basketball. You should know that nearly every Spaniard basketball player (elder Pau, Rudy etc)or players like Oberto, Manu, Scola who have played either in ACB or has that Latino attitude, are great at selling any contact. Ricky, apparently, saved his flopping acts for us yesterday. He IS a great young player. He was a game changer even when he was like 16-17 and playing Euroleague basketball, which is far more competitive and higher level than NCAA, for Badalona.
