Game Thread? Jazz @ Warriors. 2nd Round. 1st Game. (8:30 MT 5/2/17)

Cool stat: Warriors had 22 midrange points and 21 points from 3

Has that ever happened in Curry era Warriors history?

a team with 3+ hall of famers in or near their prime = a super team. what else would you call that?

at least half that list the players were well past their primes or they're just really good NBA players not fully fledged hall of famers

.... cant tell if you're being serious....

27 of the 30 players I mentioned are or will soon be in the hall of fame. All but the rockets team (who still made it to the conf finals) won 1 or more championships, or attended the finals.

i think you're talking out your ***.

• kobe shaq malone payton -4 hall of famers, 2 in prime, 2 dwindling - finals
• magic, kareem, james worthy - 3 hall of famers, multiple chips
• elgin baylor, jerry west, wilt the stilt - 3 hall of famers, champs
• bird, mchale, parish, ainge - 3 hall of famers, multiple chips
• bill russell, sam jones, john havlicek - 3 hall of famers, multiple chips
• garnett, pierce, allen - 3 hall of famers, championship
• barkley, hakeem, drexler - 3 hall of famers, WCF
• jordan, pippen, rodman - 3 hall of famers, multiple chips
• thomas, mahorn, dumars, laimbeer - 2 hall of famers, and 2 great players - champs

How many of them won 73 games then added another top 3 player in his prime? How many would be close to that?

thats entirely not my point at all. the original sentiment was that "super teams" are a new thing, which clearly they aren't. Hall of famers have been on the same team, dominating for decades. there's a reason bill russell has 11 chips and magic has 5.

i love having to explain the context of an articulate point, because some people cant read the conversation like 5 posts above the one they are commenting on.

Actually this game our defensive plan kind of worked. We played real close to 3P shooters and dared them to drive inside to face Gobert. In the end they struggled shooting the three. They made 7 threes and if I'm not wrong 4 of them come from transition/fastbreak.

Our problem was offense this game. If not for the poor offense we would not have allowed 100 points. Bad execution, forced shots, turnovers.. Actually any missed shot was a problem leading to a quick GSW play. Sometimes we executed well and found the wide open shot but Hill and Hayward bricked them.

We could not get anything going except some stretch in Q3 when we got easy buckets inside. This worked for us in G7 vs LAC, may work here too because our shooters are kind of cold.

Overall this was a good opportunity to steal a game as GSW did not look like their best but we did not make open shots and we turned the ball over often, made tons of unforced errors. We were really slow getting back to defense too and the transition points were the difference in this game.

i think i disagree with the definition of superteam. I'd more think of that as 3 franchise players or very close to it in their primes, or two current mvp types and some all nba types.

going thru your list .. malone dwindling, payton irrelevant
kareem was well past his prime and worthy was a terrific player but not necessarily a franchise player but i'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
baylor etc yes absolutely
parrish i wouldn't class as a franchise type player, and ainge ?? nah
celtics with garnett etc yep
rockets, drexler was on his last legs by then Nope
bulls yeah even tho rodman was not a franchise player
pistons ? lol mahorn, lambeer could hardly be called a great player and dumars not a franchise type not even close to a super team.

so probably 2-3 of those teams i'd class as super teams in the same class as the warriors/cavs/heat kinds of teams everyone's fretting about.

Tough game tonight. You just can't make mistakes against the Warriors. You can't turn the ball over against because more often than not they capitalize. We also need to hit those open shots.

Also, I rarely criticize Snyder but Exum needs to get some burn. He has to.

Cavs aren't a super team tho. Aside from Lebron, they have 2 all-stars. Not HoF/MVP material.
