Game Thread Preseason Utah Jazz vs LA Clippers 10-10-16

Lucky? How does one even attempt to gauge whether a traditional strip move and it's success is either lucky, intended or purposeful?

I changed my mind above... when you get a steal/strip sometimes you "gamble"... thus get lucky. Exum suffocated him and left no space crawford had to put expose the ball as a result... It wasn't risky at all refs even had a clear shot to see it was all ball.

I don't think he was trying to strip him and think he was just staying right with him and when he saw the ball he reacted perfectly. Could have even gotten the charge on that one too.

This is the most dissected play in preseason history.

Please put down the bong and watch the play again sober.

I'm sorry were you trying to aim at gaining likes, rep, a laugh? Exum fell and his hand came downward as a result. I was completely sober. Dante really played like a child out there. He made a lucky move. My final say.

"optometrist". Learn it. Know it.

What a ****in stuipid take. 1st off it should have been a charging foul on Crawford as Dante beat him to the spot and was is great defensive position. Second off you can see him reach for and strip the ball cleanly. That was a great play, arguing otherwise is stupid.

My point was simply that its ok to say good things about a play made during a game in a gamethread and its also ok to say bad things about a play made during a game in a gamethread.
I found it strange that you seemed to have a problem with people saying good things about when exum stopped Crawford on that play.

Nah man I just realize that Exum got bailed out by the lucky strip. Remember those falls are going to start counting soon and possibly costing us games.

inal say.
Exum's hand didn't come down thus stripping the ball because he was falling backward. That's silly. He was falling backward and still had the quickness/athleticism/length to strip the ball. That's good.

Crawford even Exum a hand up out of respect. That's proof.

I don't think you understand what luck is. Winning the lottery is luck. There is no way to prepare or practice to win the lottery. However, professional athletes with length, speed, quickness can do things to make themselves better players. Exum has always been a shut down defender since he came into the league. There was no luck involved on that play.

I know what luck is. He put himself in position for the lucky strip. It's luck that he put his hand in exactly the right spot as not to commit a foul and lucky the ref didn't call a foul even though it wasn't a foul

B.S. He was playing good D all night. That supposed foul on Dante of CP3 was caused by contact initiated by CP3 -- it should've been a charge.

Then by this same reasoning everything is luck. He made a great play and he has done that fairly routinely.

I think Exum is a pg reincarnation of AK... makes some fantastic defensive plays and passes but will likely always leave you wishing he could do just a little more. I'm excited to watch him grow this year.

Agreed - Exum's close-outs on perimeter D rotations is superior.

And his instincts aren't even there yet - he's doing it all on length and athletic ability.
