What's new

GAME THREAD: Utah @ Golden State, 2/2/12, 8:30 Utah time

A good point guard would take Favors to a whole new level. We need a point guard who can run the pick and roll with him. Then he needs to work on his jumper day and night so he can pick and pop.

people on here are brutal! [sorry, i choose this game thread to rant in.]

we have a bunch of young high draft picks who are showing plenty of good signs in their first or second seasons.

jefferson and millsap are an enviable frontcourt for most teams in the nba and half the people on here want to trade one or the other, depending on who had an off game the night before.

(for me, i'm much happier with this team + jefferson rather than boozer. sometimes he seems to cop a bashing around here but he is a beast and has already carried us a lot this season.
millsap is giving up inches and really competing with guys every night and now people are talking about him as a fringe-all-star. also he is getting no love from the referees and looks frustrated the last few games.)

i think too many people on here really believed cj was gonna be ray allen mk ii but he was a second round pick out of high school who is still forging out an honest and occasionally spectacular career in the nba. and now they're pi$$ed?

the jazz are playing some really good ball but we don't have anyone that is good enough to bring it every single night.
our guys are gonna have off games. sometimes on the same night.

the road schedule ahead will be interesting.

tonight was a bit rough but i'm really enjoying the jazz this season.

Rough 2 game stretch for Millsap, can't remember the last time I'd been this disappointed in his play. He's seemingly let his poor offense affect the rest of his game (rebounding and defense). By the end of the game he seemed to get a little upset at the refs and he also started hitting a couple shots so I hope that's the sign he's coming out of his funk.

Man watching the Jazz rebound (or not rebound in this case) was extremely painful, the starters just didn't have position and the bench when in position seemingly knocked the ball away from each other right to GSW (I think I remember this happened on 3 consecutive possessions) or just had hands of stone and could hold on to them.

Positives was obviously Tinsley, Hayward and Howard looks to have hopefully started getting out of his slump.

Isn't this Sap's history? He looks like an All-star for awhile, especially early in the year, and then not so much. I still think we would be better off starting favors with Big Slow, let Sap work off the bench against lesser and probably shorter players. It also matches the youngins with the vets instead of putting 2 inexperienced bigs on the floor together.

disagree that he has been all that bad.

really had a rough couple of games with the refs but has still been getting it done on the boards (averaging >10rpg over the last 5 games). also had a couple of strong offensive runs and plays (the clutch 3ptr against clippers) in both games.

he's not an all-star but is busting his guts for the team. don't see how you can be disappointed in that?

In all seriousness, why the hell wouldn't we involve Karl in the development of some of our young (post) players?

I get it I get it, he's very opinionated and probably wouldn't be a great HC.

But to condition some of these guys? To teach them some of his tricks? Does Greg, KOC, and Ty really think that they won't learn anything from working with 1 of the NBA's 50 best players of all time?

He can guard ones but he can't play the 1. We need a point forward/playmaking SG to play Burks at the 1.

I really like Burks.

Main critique I have about him is that he does not know when to use his aggression. He just attacks no matter what. Knowing how to use that will come with time but for now it to a bunch of stupid mistakes.

Great ****ing post. I agree with every word of it. I don't blame other Jazz fans for being impatient though. The entitlement and rabid lust for instant gratification are two basic qualities in a lot of sports fans. Given the nature of society in general, with the way things have progressed, that will only get magnified. But we can save the psychology of irrational fans for another day.

I love watching this squad in particular. Brimming with potential and has the chance to win games in the immediate. I will admit to pulling my hair out when things aren't going well, but that's all part of the fun for me.

Interesting is a nice way to describe the road schedule ahead. I used the word hellacious in a different thread. Either way, it will make for some fun times on this forum! Whether it be joyous circle jerks or hateful meltdowns and juvenile tantrums I'm ready for it all!

Go Jazz!

P.S. you should post more often!

Salo the only thing I have say about the Miles comment is that this is his 7th year. he is not new anymore. yes he is young but he has been on the Jazz longer than any other player. Guy should know not to make the stupid plays he does.

As for me personally I am for a trade if it makes the team better but I am not for trading for the sake of trading.

Also Chitown your Bipolarness makes me smile.

First game all season I haven't watched within 10 hours of it being played. I just might skip this one.
Doesn't sound like their were even any highlights for us...
