What's new

Gamethread: Jazz v Lakers. 7pm MST.

So you think it well be typical fit the jazz to hold teams to 70 pts per game?
Think the jazz are going to keep holding teams to thier lowest point totals fire the year?

You gonna be disappointed son

I was referring to the high level of play defensively, and even said so in the sentence directly after that you generously deleted when you quoted me.

He won't be that good next year, but he will be very impressive. That doesn't make a lot of sense, but he will improve so much, it will be impressive. And the good news is, he will still be miles from his ceiling.

Four years from now...wow. Watch out. Exum, Gobert, Hayward and Favors will be destroying the NBA.

???
What did you see what we didn't. Your first line is based on what? He will be impressive because...?

High level of defense?
I referenced 70 pts per game (that seems like high level defense to me)
And holding teams to lowest point totals of the year (also seems like high level defense)

What were you talking about?

Again an embarrassment from the FT line. Hack-a-Jazz should be every team's strategy. Well, perhaps excluding Hayward. PG play was terrible. A scrub like Clarkson going off for 22. Sending Exum to the bench and bringing in an NBA-level PG should be priority #1 this summer; not bringing in some overpaid wing. Not fair to have the frontcourt giving a terrific effort only to see the guards **** it up. Booker needs to be the 4th big. In 6 of his last 9 games, he's shot <38%. And he's horrible from the FT line. I'm beginning to take back what I said about him; he IS very expendable. That non-guaranteed contract might be combined with other assets to upgrade.

1. Get an NBA-level PG. We haven't had one for two years.
2. Find a third big.

Come the **** on. Unfair. He has carried the team on multiple occasions this year.

Dude I love Hayward. Not a Hayward hater at all. I actually was totally fine that we paid him all those units this summer. Still am. But down the stretch, I don't want the ball in his hands. How many times has he clanked the big shot? Or worse...dribbled the ball off his damn foot? I just don't think he is clutch down the stretch. I'm totally comfortable with Trey taking that last shot...or any last shot. Hayward....not so much.

Won't argue with your point about Hayward carrying the Jazz on multiple occasions. You're right.

Gonna respectfully disagree. When the Jazz weren't gunning for the franchise TO record, their offense was playing well enough.

I think the game plan was fine - the execution was just embarrassingly sloppy on the players' side.

I agree with your point that the players executing bad, but I still think the response to the zone defence was like a breaking point in this game.
(my english is not my first language but I hope u understand what I mean with "breaking point")

What were you taking about?

You asked if I thought it would be typical for the jazz to hold teams to 70 pts per game, as if that is the only thing one could possibly mean by high level of defense. The Jazz didn't even do that against the Blazers or Spurs.

My standard for high level is around 100 points allowed per 100 possessions. And the Jazz have by and large been able to do that consistently in games Gobert has started with the exception of a game where they turned the ball over 21 times.

Trey looked terrible out there tonight. Dante has much room for improvement but the offense ran better with him out there and the defense too.
