I had hoped he would be more aggressive, but I'm not entirely surprised either. It's certainly not enough for me to write him off as a ****ty player.

Fair enough. Time will tell and at this point I am not even really thinking about it. Exum, if he is going to be good, will need plenty of time and the Jazz can give it to him.

In one year all the Dante naysayers will be eating their words and in three years they will be choking on them. I will be here to give them the heimlich because I'm nice like that.

in just about any other situation X wouldn't get any minutes other then garbage time. His per's would look much better. He's getting far more minutes then he deserves. Its not as bad as u think it is

That's probably why we're so down on him. On most other teams he'd be getting a ton of DNP-CD's and a few minutes here and there in garbage time. If we're going to compete next season - and I think we owe that to Gordon, Derrick and Rudy - we HAVE to address the problems at PG.

With Alec coming back, that takes care of having another player besides Hayward who is going to penetrate. What we need is really a Fisher-like PG. Someone who can handle the ball as needed, but whose real role is to just hit 3's. Dante is kind of trying to play that way, but the problem is he can't shoot and our other guard spot has players that have also been pretty useless offensively (other than to pass the ball to Gordon).
 
That also explains the PER comparisons. O'Neal and such were playing against scrubs, Exum is playing against starters at the most stacked position in the league.

Watching Exum on the offensive end of the floor reminds of watching Jimmer on defense. All the other four guys are out there doing **** - making plays, creating shots, putting pressure on the defense, while Exum stands at the three point line and swings the ball around the perimeter. He doesn't compete on offense. He's a *****. He's soft. Again the excuse is that he's 19. Any 19 year old worth his **** since 19 year olds started playing in the NBA actually plays on the offensive end. Exum is garbage and an embarrassment. Quin Snyder wants to play him, wants him in the game and getting experience, and despite the fact that Trey Burke effing sucks, Snyder can't afford to keep Exum in the game in favor of Burke.

All of you jazzfanz who think Exum is a future star and a cornerstone of this franchise, I admire your optimism, but history shows even young guys simply are never this bad and turn in to great NBA players. Painful to watch.

Fully agree that he is playing incredibly passively. He does show flashes, especially with passes. He makes some that Trey could only dream of. And his D is strong. Lets hope that despite the historical standards, he is the exception to that rule. I stiil trust DL and QS on this. Looks like it is going to take longer than we could hope, but he has shown spots of more assertiveness lately.
 
To all the Exum doubters/haters/doomsday-predictors...follow the advice of Aaron Rodgers. It'll be okay...

Exum became a starter only recently.
