What's new

Gamethread: Utah Jazz @ Sacramento Kings. 6:00PM MST

he's not a perimeter threat nor smart enough off the ball to be a SG. he needs to just be used as a change of pace or defensive guard/specialist depending on matchups. grayson can play 2nd or 3rd string PG depending on matchups provided he takes care of the ball especially. he played alot of PG for duke the last 2 years.
He has a better chance of learning to be good offensively off ball than he does in a lead guard position. I thought he looked better (or less bad) offensively last night because he didnt have the ball as much.

I don't anticipate that Exum will be a starting quality SG. So with that being said, I full anticipate that we will have the following over the next few years of Exum's contract:

Starting PG - Rubio this year but I hope this is upgraded
Mitchell who starts as a SG but will play some PG
Grayson who is a bench PG/SG
Exum who I think should be a bench SG

If our starting PG, Mitchell, and Grayson are doing most of the PG duties, Exum will be a SG and be there as a perimeter defender off the bench.

i can be fine for that if they use him primarily for defense. he just needs to focus on being someone like andre roberson i guess, and he's not near as bad as shooter as roberson is.

Unless he magically learns to shoot. If he could shoot, he'd be a much better attacker in isolation. As it stands, the defense knows whats coming everything time.

What would it take to get Bjelica in a trade? Couple seconds? More?

That's just a tough miss. I think we won in part because they elected to go with Giles/Bagley so much.

i think a couple seconds should be good enough but i don't think vlade would bite

Sub out Crowder's 28% 3 point shooting for Bjelica's 50% and that helps a whole bunch.

Crowder has been fine... getting to the line a lot more, but it'd be nice to have another reliable stretch option. Could also run 5-Out lineups if we really wanted to.

The Bjelica miss hurts a lot.

If he can learn to become one of the best perimeter defending specialists in the league, I think he's an asset. If he can become our Bruce Bowen, I'm fine with that.

Bruce Bowen didn't emerge in the NBA until he was 25. He didn't really learn his best role until he was 29. He was a 6'7" 185lb wing who only averaged more than 8ppg one season out of 9 seasons as a starter. Bowen only took 5 shots per game even though he averaged 29 minutes per game the last 9 seasons of his career.

I know the game has changed so a guy like Bowen might now have to come off the bench. However, a lock down defender has a place in the NBA regardless of if that player can provide much on offense or not.

Mirotic is a better player, but considering the cost in assets to acquire him, in addition to Mirotic's contract status, I think there is room for debate on making the move or not before he ultimately ended up a Pelican.

But the Bjelica **** was a pure miss. 100% blown opportunity.

I'm also not certain a lineup of Crowder/O'Neale has better spacing than Favors/Mitchell.
But is anyone comparing Crowder/O’Neale to Favors/Mitchell? I get that people have to reference one game where that was the case, but nobody’s advocating Crowder/O’Neale, just Crowder.
