Gauging Devin Harris' Trade Value

sorry, but I don't think Dallas has the right assets for a 2-team trade to work. You'd have to get a third team involved.

Your son Harris is on his way to Portland.

2 team trades are boring anyways. I'm open to a 3some or even a quaddeal. Who would you want from Portland? Andre Miller? lol.

I think we all want Wes Matthews back. But, dude, Porty wants your man... they tried to get him from NJ at last year's deadline. If the Jazz and Blazers can shake off the hate and do some business together, there are a couple of good deals for both teams.

I get trading Harris if we get a better PG back, but otherwise I'm very down on the idea. I can't imagine KOC is working any deals for Harris that doesn't include some kind of respectable PG since we have absolutely nothing in that department once he's gone.

Who do we trade to Porty? Millsap for Matthews?

^^ What he said.

Harris has more value to us than to other teams, based on need factors, Harris is one of the most valuable players on our team. Price and Watson are great backups, but with both being free agents we have zero guarantees at PG.

Was Harris really a team captain in Dallas? Maybe I don't know him, but he doesn't seem to have strong leadership skills. He did a radio interview a couple of weeks ago, he was asked what the Jazz players were doing to get together for practice and conditioning in the offseason and if he was organizing any players training. His underwhelming response was:" Yea, some of the guys are getting together, I guess as the pg the responsibility falls to me, so yea we'll do something."

I don't want a pissed off, angry guy who yells at his teamates and chucks balls at the rookies heads but could we have just a little bit of fire?

I think you're reading a little too much into this. Harris is definitely a heady, mature guy who greatly appreciated his deliverance from New Jersey last year. I have no concerns about his preparedness. It's his skill level I don't know about, but I got used to having the best passer on earth direct our attack. So he's got the benefit of the doubt from me.

Harris to Portland for Miller and Matthews is what I want. Assuming we draft Knight, Miller would be perfect for 20/per to mentor Knight. I would be in love with a backcourt of Knight/Matthews/Hayward. All high character guys. Plus I think having Miller instead of Harris may even improve our team not counting Matthews.
