What's new

Gentlemen Broncos

I started a thread on this movie on the old board, and felt it deserved one on this forum.

I'm not from Utah, but I guess there are a lot of people with odd quirks like those portrayed in the movie. However, I've seen it over 15 times (not exaggerating) and its easily in my top 5 comedies of all time.

All but one of my friends hated it. I'm assuming those on here who have seen it either hated or loved it, without any indifference.

Anyone care to share their favorite scenes? Why they hated it? etc.

This movie was just plain weird, the only thing I found funny was Jemaine Clement's character

Thanks for the suggestion, it's next in my Netflix queue.

Just a warning - I found it 1000x funnier the 2nd and 3rd times viewing it. The first time, I was just like "wtf?" for all of it. Once I watched it having a grasp on the characters and story, it was a lot funnier. It's one of those movies..

That's how I felt about Napoleon Dynamite.

One of the stupidest movies I have ever seen. It's right up there with the last airbender. They tried WAY TOO hard to be funny. -1 Rep for bad recomendation.

I enjoyed it.

I went to a writers conference just out of high school and the story I had submitted was scifi (that's a lie, the story that caused my teacher to tell me to submit a story was scifi, the story I submitted was about a dim-wit convenience-store clerk who was wrongly convicted of and executed for murder) . This movie really reminded me of that experience, especially one of the instructors named Gino Sky who was getting a little cozy with a few of the young girls and who told a pretty odd story about a misunderstood friend of his who, when asked what made him happy said, "I like to **** little boys." Gino invited all of us to his ranch in Idaho for his upcoming birthday (the dude was in his mid-50s, at least). I really hope nobody took him up on it. But hey, I do have a signed copy of a book of poetry he wrote titled "Driving While Drinking" if I remember right. It was pretty much complete crap.

I'm going to watch it a second time before sending it back.

Thanks for the recommendation.

EDIT: holy crap, I found Gino Sky on the net. Guess he could actually be considered a professional writer. Guy was a damn creep.

Here he is:

I really didn't give him one. Being truthful, it did make me laugh. I just felt like they tried way too hard. If they had made the book plot a little different than about a guy and his gonad, than I would have liked it more.

I think that added to the comedy of it. That the world's best sci fi writer was ripping off juvenile d*ck and f*rt references in a book. Many more belly laughs if you watch a second, third and fourth time - I promise.

One scene that made me laugh really really hard was when Lonnie, Dusty, and Tabitha go on the public access TV show and the host refers to them as "prolific" and dusty as a movie star.

you can say duck and fort around here chitown...

or wait, did you mean dick and fart? well, those are OK too! woo hoo :-D

and Gameface, that's pretty interesting how you found that teacher! hopefully he wasn't really as creepy as he seemed at the time.

Sorry Mo, but I saw this movie mainly because of my great love for Napoleon Dynamite.

Napoleon Dynamite goes into my top 15 - 20 movies of all time.

As much as I wanted to love Broncos, I wouldn't wipe my *** with it.....I'd rather use a pine cone.

I saw parts of this movie again and thought it was mildly amusing.

There's an extra that works where I do, which was fun to see.

The Last Airbender tried WAY TOO hard to be funny?

No, Broncos not Air Bender. I was just saying they are both terrible, but I can see your confusion because a) there's legitimate confusion going on b) you're stupid and c) Last Air Bender and Gentlemen Bronco have not been seen by many due to their terribleness.
