George Hill Update

Dante and shelvin were both the beneficiaries of hill being out no doubt. I agree with others that observed dante is not back physically from his rookie year. It will take months if not until next season. So hill coming back will impact dantes progress but it is well worth it for jazz (near term of course) but also to let Dante come along at reasonable pace so as to not overburden him and no need. Mack has matured to provide this years back up needs. This does make the player investment long term plan hard though.

Anyone else feel like Shelvin Mack is Snyder's security blanket? Also I believe Shelvin can't get it done against the best competition. Dante might be able to. So in my mind you need to find a way to build up Dante so you have the best chance to win in the playoffs.

To be honest, I think Mack is one of the better backup PGs in the league. We aren't going to be giving up much with him against other teams' benches. Sure he won't get it done against top competition, but that's why we have Hill. Realistically,no team is supposed to have backups that can hold up against top competition anyways. I get that Dante might be able to in the future, but we don't need him to do that this season. It's perhaps slightly shortsighted, but we are trying to win now instead of developing players.

It's a tight line that's hard to walk though.

Dante doesn't need to play to develop a ******* shot. He doesn't need to play in a game to be able to go 5 minutes without looking like a 40-yr old rec league player sucking wind.

Dante needs to go early to the gym and stay late shooting, He needs to run a few miles every day. He just looks like he has no fire. In that respect, he reminds me of Krissy Humphries. Ton of talent, just no heart. Jazz may have done Exum a disservice by handing him the starting job just because ANYONE was better than Burke.

I think this is an unfair evaluation. I think Dante is just a late-bloomer. Some guys mature earlier and he definitely is not fully matured yet -- just look at his acne. I think back when I grew up and there were guys that were fully matured in their teens like a guy I didn't know at the time who went from high school to play for the Miami Dolphins in the NFL. I later got to know him personally and played basketball with him -- he was also a basketball phenom in high school. What a difference once everyone else grew up. He was still good but no longer a man among boys. I think it's the same with Dante. Give him a little time to mature and I think his talent will bloom. Time will tell.

I keep mentioning it, but it's just weird how winded Dante gets. He's not visibly out of shape, and he plays quite a bit, and I'm assuming he runs quite a bit during practices. So why does he so often look like he just got done running a 400M sprint? Maybe he needs nasal surgery.

They are close though. I wouldnt be surprised if Hill comes back against the Raptors.

Possibly but aside from tonight's game I expect the Jazz to win out through the end of the month. 5-1 to finish 23-11. I'm hoping to have Hill and Burks back to start our road trip in January at 100%
