Georges Niang mastering art of trash talk in pursuit of roster spot

You have to be athletic enough... and Niang is that... he aint the fat boy from Iowa State anymore. He will be a better version of Jared Dudley... which would be a great stretch 4 for us.

I’m just saying compared to his peers he’s not a good athlete.

He can still make it and play a role, it just makes it more difficult.

Gotcha... agree.

I'd like to know how people define "athletic." As best I can tell, in basketball it implies someone can jump high, dunk, run fast, and, most likely, isn't white. By the standards I infer from its popular use, Tom Brady isn't at all athletic, yet he's arguably the NFL's GOAT. To play at high levels of sport, it's hard for me to believe that many people who lack true, advanced, and specialized athletic skills are going to make it.

I, for one, am tired of the cliched use of this term. (However, on my list of pet peeves, it actually rates pretty low, but since this is the topic of the thread . . ..)

I go with the eyeball test. I took a bit of crap for saying Wiggins didn't look as basketball athletic as he was being hyped as. Of course, that was when everyone wanted to tank for him - emotionally vested interests - and people were calling him the next LeBron. Now nobody here would touch him with a ten foot pole.

Bball athleticism is more than raw physical traits, and has a ton more to do with mental talent IMO.
