There are some really intriguing PG talents in the 15-18 range in this year's draft. There's a lot of value to be had there and so I wouldn't give up the pick in this year's draft for Teague.
Is it? I'm not so sure.
Teague seems disillusioned with the Hawks and how they've treated him and his contract situation. Also that they seem to want Schroeder to be their next PG of the future doesn't help neither. If we get Teague here in Utah and he buys into our team culture, why not see if he wants to re-sign with us once he hits FA? I don't think that's outside the realm of possibility. He has proven himself to be able to carry a team and I do think he could be a GREAT fit in Utah.
Does Jeff Teague have any injuries concern we should know about? I mean he's only 27, seems to me he could be playing at an elite level for at least 3-4 more years.

He has a bad ankle right now supposedly. Can't be sure how serious it is. I don't think it's much, a lot of his troubles can be attributed to the fact, they lost Demarre, and Korver is shot, and Schroeder have been stealing minutes. He hasn't been terrible. Just not the same as last year.
Yeah that's kinda the same injury concern DWill had when we traded him to the Nets... I'm a bit hesitant on banking on PGs who have bad ankles and rely on explosiveness to be effective. Also he is plateauing and is on a downward trajectory career wise too.
That's a lot to process... but Quin was the Hawks assistant coach there a few years ago right? So I guess he more than anybody in the league knows what's going on with Teague right now.
I don't think Korver is shot. I think teams figured out that taking out the key role players on Atlanta is important to forcing them into bad shots. Just switch if you need to take away Korver threes or whatever you don't like and force them into 1v1 mismatches they can't really take advantage of.
And in the Teague situation, it only takes ONE bidder, ONE injury and someone may be interested. Before the deadline means you're getting 1 1/2 years of Teague, enough to make him like his new situation. He has a killer contract and won't hurt anybody's salary cap in the summer. If anything if he's an upgrade in his new situation he may improve the free agency chances of his new team as a prior all star.
East teams that could be interested are the previously mentioned Bucks obviously, even though I don't think they'll do a win now move.
The Knicks seem to be 1 quality player away of being a 7-8 seed. Maybe they'll go for it.
Memphis has recovered after a slow start and they may be 1 guard injury away from doing a silly trade.
Same goes for the Kings. I mean if we're talking stupid investments, they're the front runners.
The Suns may offer Markieff and an asset and the Hawks should at least think about it. If they have a happy Markieff until next year's trade deadline they probably can flip his contract for more.
What if the Rockets determine that Ty Lawson's return isn't going to happen in early February and they try to get an upgrade there? They got some interesting pieces they could attach to Ty.
Another wild card: WHat if the Heat say 'Goran Dragic is a good player but he doesn't fit our system and we don't want to alter the system to better suit his skillset'. Teague would be a good fit in Miami.

I think Utah's interest went way down after the Chicago game. DL is probably offering Burke and a 2nd at this point. Actually that might be fair. They're getting a decent PG who is ok with playing backup - and one they'll control as a RFA. They're trading away a disgruntled employee. BTP is right. Others may make a silly trade. Jazz shouldn't overpay.

You are certifiably insane if you think Neto is the answer at point guard. I like him as a backup, but name one decent team in the league with a worse starting PG situation than us.
Here we have a chance to get an above average player at our worst position for pennies in the dollar. This is what we've been waiting for and you guys have such a hard on for our own players that you are blinded. So let me drop some hard truth on ya: Exum was a timid as **** player BEFORE he tore his ACL why would that change now? Hey, maybe he comes back and becomes the player we all want him to be. But to put all you eggs in that basket? Foolish.
And you know what wouldn't help? Having him be a 35 minutes a night guy next year. You have a chance to get a young guy coming off injury to play 20 minutes a game next year behind a very good starter he can learn from, and not have the pressure on him to be the franchise savior.
Then after you get your five seed, and conclude a very successful season. You either thank Teague for the great season and give the keys to Exum. OR you know that Exum might not have what it takes, but lucky for you, we have first dibs on resigning Teague.
Now please tell me why you would be opposed to this. I ****ing love Burks, you all know I do. And I'd only include him in the deal as a last resort. But if I had to? Hell yes I would. Giving up a bench player for the above scenario? Definitely worth it. I'd start out by offering a collection of draft picks (which you guys put WAY to much value on) and Burke, and hope they become desperate.

Reports are the Hawks are shopping Horford around too, which IMO lessens the legitimacy of these rumors. They're fishing for suckers, and the Jazz aren't going to bite.
