First. It's not like Exum is 35 years of age, or even 25. I think there is a more significant chance he fully recovers from the injury. I believe in Exum because of his makeup and work ethic, and those things will only get better with age.
Then there are his physical attributes, and natural defensive ability, both which will only improve over the next two years and see him as a guy that can grow into a leadership role with this team. Not happening with Teague around.
I see him developing into a Kidd/Devin Harris hybrid type player. I loved everything about this kids potential as a rookie. I see him having elite level Harris type slashing skills and getting to the ft line a ton while being a Kidd type floor general. We saw these things in that SL game and to a lesser extent on his national team.
If u have a guy with that potential as young as Exum, even with the injury u have to take that risk regardless of the injury and develop his physical and mental skills as fast as u can already behind thanks to the injury.
Also LOL at Booker and Burke getting Teague here. Holy hell!! Are we that dumb and idiotic to think Atlanta will be that enamored with a package of Burke, a downgrade at pg, and an off the bench energy guy in Booker?? And a late draft pick that if Durant and Westbrook stay in OKC will be a late pick, and if they jump ship will end up being two second round picks most likely. Right...
In order to get Teague we need to risk our future, not only with Exum but in parting with our own pick this year or next and rather Hood, or Burke and Burks with our own pick. **** that!! Let's develop some common sense!! I can't be the only one with any.
Open your eyes and stop looking through Jazz colored glasses.

So Stockton could only develop by starting? Look again; he played behind a former all-star for 3 years before taking over. I might be wrong, but I think he developed into a pretty good PG and leader. And that was AFTER playing college ball. Exum didn't even have a year of that. He was just shooting around and working out on his own for one year, which is alarming - all those reps should have given him better touch his rookie season.
Atlanta may/may not go for Burke + picks. If you've done any reading at all, you know Teague wants out, It's not as public as the Kanter situation, but it's nearly to that point. What did DL accept for Enes? He didn't even get a quality player in return. Burke would be a very attractive asset for them. He's willing to come off the bench, allowing Schroeder to start. He's also a low-end starter if Schroeder struggles. And he'll be a RFA if Atlanta chooses to keep him as a 6th man. No, Atlanta doesn't have to trade Teague now. He's not expiring. But they'd likely only get a 2nd-round pick if they wait until next season. And they run the risk of locker room problems not only with Teague, but also from Schroeder, who is pushing to start.
The Jazz aren't giving up Hood; that would be silly. But you also can't tell me Exum won't take time to recover from his injury. Look at every other player who has come back from an ACL. They're not at full strength/skill level after just one year. And you REFUSE to acknowledge how bad Exum was offensively last season. He was a placeholder on the court - worse than Neto. Sure, he was good defensively. But he may NEVER have all the quickness he had before the injury, So we'll be seeing a player who will likely be somewhat worse defensively and HOPING he's improved his shooting and penetrating, What if he hasn't? He also averaged 22 mins last season. He could average the same and that STILL leaves room for a PG like Teague to get 26 mins,
If Exum comes back 100% AND can shoot and drive,,,FANTASTIC! We're in great shape. And if that pushes someone like Teague to the bench, even BETTER! Exum/Teague or Teague/Exum is a HUGE upgrade over Neto/Exum or Exum/Burke or however Quin has to play those three. And Teague/Neto pushes Utah into the playoffs THIS year. To do NOTHING just alienates Hayward.
If Atlanta insists on Hood, no, DL walks away, But that's just posturing, Atlanta knows Utah isn't going to give up Hood (or Burks). They're just trying to get more picks or hope they can get another team to offer more.
