Gobert Injured in Practice: Grade II Sprained MCL

Good post, I agree with everything you said there.

Rep'd.
But why is playing Hayward at the 4 a fantasy?

Is Harrison Barnes so much bigger than Hayward?

they may be at least 10 or 15 games behind when Gobert comes to back
Wrong.

They would have to lose almost every game for this to be the case

bye bye 2015-2016

I think we still make the playoffs, just at a worse seed7/8.

With Gobert and Exum healthy this year maybe we get 4-6, and win a round. Lets just hope we can stay healthy next year,
and make a DEEP run into the playoffs.

Bolded the toughest games.

Too much doom and gloom here. Setbacks can create opportunities. I think our three wing rotation is just beginning to gel. Wait'll all three are firing on all cylinders, and we'll be tough to beat, even without Rudy.

You don't lose a unique talent like Rudy and have everything be okay. We will lose several more games because of this.

Our D will be worse but our O will be better.

Favors/Booker/Hayward/Hood/Neto or Withey/Favors/Hayward/Hood/Neto

Of course not. Just saying things may not be as bad as some people think, and in the long run might be beneficial, so long as it's only a bump in the road for Rudy and doesn't lead to a chronic knee problem, which is why the Jazz need to err on the side of caution and don't let Rudy come back too soon. I remember when Larry Bird had his heel spurs operation (had them on both heels). He tried to come back too early (rushed himself into workouts on the court), and not only did he injure himself further but it also caused him to run unnaturally when he first came back, which in turn led to the back problem that prematurely ended his career.

I had the injury about 10 years ago playing beer league softball and I laughed when the Ortho told me the treatment was about four to six weeks of sitting on a bar stool. When I was cleared to come back I recall a lot of stiffness in the joint and it seems like I missed about 6 weeks.

You're too optimistic. Even losing Exum made the defense considerably worse. Losing Gobert on top of that means they lose half of their inside defense after losing half of their outside defense. They basically have 3 real good NBA players left now : Favors, Hayward and Burks. It doesn't make a great team anymore.

Part of the problem is the Jazz never had a good bench to begin with, so it's getting kinda ugly when injuries happen.

Quoting Andy Bailey : "Utah's Net Rating is +4.8 when Rudy Gobert's on the floor. It's -4.9 when he's off. It's going to be a trying 4-6 weeks for the Jazz."

10 point net differential. It's huge. Gobert had a very big impact, it's just you don't see it everytime in his stats.

I hope I'm wrong though and I'll still watch the games unless they get slaughtered.
