Rudy is going to be making 44/46M when he's 32/33 years old, could easily be one of the worst and least moveable contracts in the league in a few years. Donovan has shown he can score at a historic level in the playoffs, Rudy has gotten his arse busted by Nic Batum and Maxi Kleber.

I mean you were saying the exact same thing about that contract a week or two ago and that contract just got moved for 5 1st round picks, most of them unprotected, 1 pick swap and 40M worth of expirings... It's pretty obvious that the league sees much higher value in Gobert and his contract than you. And that's OK.

BTW in 2024 the new TV deal comes into place, and projections are salary cap might bump up to over 170M. This means Rudy's contract in those final 2 years will be around 26% of the cap.

When you can't carry us to the round of 8, we're still just mediocre. That's the boat we were in built around Rudy Gobert.

Please stop wasting your time. These guys simply don't get it. It's okay. They just don't understand. They are enamored by DPOY awards and trendy little regular season stats.

Truth is, Danny Ainge just got us an amazing draft haul, 2 proven NBA players, and 3 young players with loads of potential for a player who at no point in his entire career has dominated a playoff series. Not once.

This has a very good chance to go down as the worst trade in NBA history. I'm just so glad that we are on the other side.

But....

Minnesota is taking a gamble that everybody else is questioning. They are taking a massive gamble that Rudy covers up all their defensive holes created simply because KAT doesn't want to play the role of defensive big man. They are gonna try to win going big. We shall see.

Maybe we are talking about two different things.

I believe this is the correct way to look at it.

This allows the team to deal with multiple issues at once. I think, for the first time in a few years, I am genuinely hopeful. I really didn't think the team could "rebuild on the fly", but I recognize the possibility that I'm about to eat some crow.

We are going to take a step back (or suck for a while). I'm okay with that as the future benefits are difficult to ignore. Like was posted earlier, when you are offered the Godfather haul for your aging super-maxed superstar that's maxed his potential, you have to take that deal. We own the draft of a team who had not show any ability to "put it together" for rest of the decade (and we've seen where team dynamics are fluid in the league), unloaded all that salary, and still have some of our pieces to play or deal as we see fit.

I will absolutely miss Rudy. We need to build him a f*cking statute that the Colossus of Rhodes approve of. But this was Utah's best shot to retool/rebuild and it needed to be done.

Maybe if almost all the folks are excited about it and all the national media folks who aren't even jazz fans are saying that the jazz won this trade big time then maybe you might be the one who is wrong?

I absolutely could be wrong. It has happened plenty of times before. Bleacher report agrees with me but as I have said, the only way this works is if we are blowing it up or if we turn around and get lots back in putting these picks with other immediate trades.

You act like Curry is bad on defense. He’s actually pretty darn solid. If Don wants to win, he needs to stop being a turnstile. I understand if you’re the lead offensive option you can’t go all out on defense all the time, but his effort was pathetic out there. You aren’t winning a title with defense like that.

This is a dishonest post. Rudy didn’t get “busted” by those guys. Rudy got “busted” trying to cover for everyone else. He either came off Batum or Kleber leaving his guy wide open because no one could/would rotate over or he’d stay home and the basket would become a layup drill. Rudy’s biggest problem defensively was trying to help play team defense. He should’ve just stayed at home with his man in the corner and watched the other 4 guys give up highlight layup and dunk after highlight layup and dunk.
