Gobert to Minnesota

In Tony Jones latest article he says the Jazz initially insisted that Jaden McDaniels be part of the package coming back to the Jazz and Minnesota refused, instead, they upped their picks package substantially and the Jazz agreed to a deal. He says the Jazz believe they can develop Kessler and Vanderbilt and use the other players and picks to try and re-tool the roster on the fly.

Says the Jaz are determined to keep Mitchell and build the roster around him on the fly...but if Ainge receives an offer that approaches the scale of the Gobert trade he will listen. For now the plan is for him to be with the Jazz next season. Also says the Jazz will need to have conversations with Donovan to make sure they have buy-in from him before they build the roster around him.
Seems pretty reasonable.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but by waiting until after the draft, Ainge was able to get both Walker (their 2022 pick) as well as 4+ picks, as opposed to if he did the trade pre-draft, he’d only have been able to get Walker + 3 picks - is that right?

Don at #11 and Rudy at #27

Don is younger, cheaper, more appealing to fans/sells tickets, and helps you recruit other guys into a big market. We will likely look at Rudy’s deal as one of the worst in the NBA in 2/3 years.
Nobody in the NBA cares about HoopsHype. Pretty sure GMs would dump all over that article.

By any metric Rudy is an elite NBA player. Don is overrated and on the decline, we’d be smart to capitalize on his inflated perceived value now.
