Gobert update thread

Ehh, doubt it. Keeping it unknown for the playoffs is more fun.

Going to disagree with this one. Most of the award winners are in the playoffs. Announcing them now only increases the drama IMO.

Give the DPOY award to any of Gobert, Green or Leonard and it will increase the intrigue of future matchups between the Jazz, Warriors and/or Spurs. Westbrook vs. Harden. If they announced the winner on Friday, one guy is looking to live up to it and the other guy is looking to prove it wrong.

Coach of the year. Most improved. All NBA. There's always guys who feel snubbed. I think it would be better to do it before the playoffs.

I think announcing would take away from playoffs. Just my opinion ofc.

Ouch. I now know the pain I cause people when I say things like that. I'm a changed man thanks to you.
No problem. Your statement almost changed me but then I saw the truth.

Tbh I don't care either way. I do think there is ethical value to not doing individual awards when the focus should be on team.

I don't think so. People will no longer care nearly as much about Westbrook winning the MVP a month after being eliminated. It should be given while the hype is at its maximum value.
Agreed. Doing it now creates story lines that gives the announcers things to talk about during the games.

No official status on Gobert for Tuesday night. Said to be walking around "pretty normally" today. Speculation is that he will miss Tuesday's game though. No official timetable for a return.

Hope it's Friday's game. But can you imagine the doubt in LACs mind if he trots out Tuesday and they are already down 1-0 and now Gobert is back.

Agreed

Just saw a tweet about Gobert:

Andy Larsen: Both Joe Johnson and Joe Ingles have commented that Rudy Gobert’s been walking around the hotel, relatively upbeat in full sessions today.

Not sure how to take the boldest part. What "full sessions"? Film, shoot around, practice, interviews?

Off topic question but how many times did the Clips drive to the hoop and you thought to yourself, "that wouldn't have happened w/ Rudy"?
