Gobert's rise to the Greatest Jazz Center of All Time!

Borchardt was the real disappointment. He had the IQ and all the skills to be an all-star center for years in the NBA, but his frail body just couldn't hold up. Really too bad. Imagine a healthy Borchardt alongside Boozer/Memo/Kirilenko. That would have been some front court rotation.

%@#%@$# I don't even have Borchardt on my list! How did that happen?!! OK, I'll have to adjust the rankings. Borchardt is still quite a bit ahead of Gobert, however.

Pretty cool thread tbh.

One thing I'd say is that someone who played the entirety of their career in New Orleans shouldn't count.

That's not my Jazz if ya feel me.

It takes a small, small man to go hatin' on Mel Counts:

I've always thought that, when they were drafted, Lopez was better than Parker as well.

No homerism at all since his career here was cut so short, but I still think Lopez would have been better than Parker in the long run, would have had the better career. He reminded me more of Stockton than any other guard I had seen up to that point. I know in Europe he had a moderately successful career, but it was all curtailed by the bad knees. Too bad. With him and a healthy Borchardt, alongside Boozer, Memo and Kirilenko that would have been a championship squad, imo.

So here are Gobert's current Stats:
Points 29
Rebounds 54
Blocks 10
Steals 4
Assists 2

This moves him ahead of a number of people, starting with :
#47 Dan O'Sullivan
Points 21
Rebounds 17
Blocks 1
Steals 1
Assists 4

As an undrafted rookie from Fordam, the 6'10" O'Sullivan played in 21 games for the 90-91 Utah Jazz. He would go on to play 2 more years on 4 different teams capping his career with a 33 point scoring explosion (for the entire season) at Toronto, where he will hang his legacy. The really sad thing is that his Jazz Jersey was on sale on ebay. Nobody owned a Dan O'Sullivan Jazz jersey but Dan. I couldn't find any pics of him, so we are going with the ebay jersey shot:

I remember Danny boy, and for some inexplicable reason I had high hopes for him, he probably jumped on the floor to get a loose ball.

I posted this in the game thread, but this video of Gobert blocking the Thunder dribbling down the court and dunking is worth seeing again and again and again...
