Good Chance Burks Will be Traded This Summer

This draft doesn't have a lot of top-tier talent, but it has lots of second-tier guys and plenty of bigs whose stock will rise. Burke will go around 12 or so. We shouldn't sell the farm to get him (i.e. don't even give Burks), but we should try pretty damn hard.

way to much to give up for Burke. Burks should get burke straight up no picks involved. this draft isnt strong enough to give up that much

I said this earlier, but ESPN's Chad Ford says all the Gm's and scouts he has talked to have Trey Burke as a high lottery pick.

I'm sure the scouts are pouring their ****ing hearts out. I'm sure they're being totally honest too. ****, why do we even have the darft?

Well... he isn't breaking confidences of what teams are saying what. he just said there is a general feeling that Burke is the real deal because of his poise and ability to run the Point.

Yeah because this franchise has a long history of giving up proven players to go with unproven players...

Just like how we traded Big Al and Millsap right before the trade deadline in order to give unproven players the chance to play....

honestly if Burks was in this draft he would get drafted ahead of Burke. So that means there is no reason to give up to draft picks in addition to burks. If a team needs a 2 guard i think the Jazz, in this draft, trade burks for the pick straight up. If they have a strategy to get another 2 guard then i would do it. Say a Burke, GRIII and saric draft with the idea that GRIII is going to play the 2 or even switch Saric for a 3rd big.

I would think GR3 would end up a SF and Hayward would play the 2 just because GR3, though 2 inches shorter than Hayward at 6'6, Will have a pretty strong/Sturdy Frame as he fills out. He'll be a lot bigger stronger than Burks and Hayward.

Considering Burke will probably measure at 5'11" at the workouts, he might be available in the late lottery. If Utah is giving up Burks and two first rounders for a PG, they better be getting Marcus Smart (and this is coming from a Michigan Alum).

Consider this: The Jazz system has always needed a good PG to be successful. Our best years have always been centered around PG play. If Trey Burke impresses KOC and Lindsey this Summer, I am pretty positive the Jazz will make a run at getting Him on draft day. Look for the Jazz to trade Alec Burks and their two draft picks just to get him. I honestly think there is a super strong possibility that this will happen... it makes too much sense not to happen. If there are any lottery teams willing to tango, the deal will get done. The Front office knows we need a PG and if Trey Burke or even Smart impress them enough, the deal will get done. I think Trey Burke is the guy they will be targeting. Don't be suprised if it happens. I'm calling it. We'll trade our 13th or 14th pick, The GSW pick and Alec Burks to get it done. Frankly, as much as i like Burks, I like the idea of landing Burke even more. Next season, we'll likely have a new Core Four and that isn't a bad thing, seeing that Trey Burke looks as poised and ready to lead an NBA team as any college PG i have seen in quite some time.

It certainly seems like you don't value Burks too much. There is no way that Burke is worth Burks by himself let alone throwing in 2 first round picks.

The feeling among Scouts and Gm's is that Burke is high lottery 5-8 i think.

I like Burks a lot actually. I do think that he is going to be a solid pro and he could make a nice jump next season in production. If he works hard, I think he totally will. However, I also think that the Jazz need a solid PG who is top 10 in the league among 1's or has the potential to be top ten. I think Trey Burke would flourish in the Utah Flex offense and I just feel like the sooner we get a solid PG the sooner we will be on our way to contending. I am just so sick of Mo willaims or Watson running the Point. and last year we had Harris.. ugh. We need a top 10 PG again. If we snagged one, we'd be pretty solid!!
I will admit though, the more i think about it, the more i feel that 2 1st rounders and Burks is too much. I'd say Burks and maybe the GSW pick.

Doubt it. Trading Burks now, when he was held back for half the season and just starting to show his potential, would be selling low. Even if the Jazz really aren't all that keen on Burks, you at least let him put up big numbers during their "strategic step back" next season, and increase his trade value by several times.

I'm as big of a Burke supporter on this board and I will possibly retire as a fan of we give up 2 picks and Burks for Trey.

With a roster total of 5 not counting Marvin picking up his option, I think we will have two rookies on the roster next year. We will re-sign Foye unfortunately to a 2 year deal and either Mansap or Jeffersuck. I hope it doesn't play out that way but trying to set myself up to be happy instead of pissed.

I could see us giving up our lottery and a protected 1st I'd he, MCW, or Smart impress enough but would doubt it.
