No.

Nothing about him is Bear-like at all.

Why can't you just accept his already massive pool of above average nicknames? Most players just get their initials plus jersey number.
 
Also, possible nickname for Gobert's hook shot if it ever develops to something of notoriety... "The French Kiss".
 
And if you really have to have a lame nickname, at least make it lame and relevant to France

Something like "The Big Cheese"

It can be his physical attributes then, or may be what he can do well, or what he likes/enjoys or what he believes in. Are all French man the same? No. They all have unique personalities and qualities. On that basis I think there are other things far more worthy to be used than simply his Nationality.

I'm born as a Thai, but grew up in New Zealand, does that mean those countries define me? No. I think of myself as a citizen of the world and I do believe that I have much more to contribute to this World as a whole than where I was born or grew up.

Therefore "The Eiffel Tower" both describes his nationality and physical attributes.
