Hayward and CJ are quite different in their inconsistency though. CJ would have one good game every 5 or 6, for his entire career. On the other hand, Hayward is a streaky shooter to a level that I've never seen. Hayward has 4 month stretches of looking like an all-star, and 4 month stretches of looking pretty bad, and it's basically because of his ridiculously streaky shot.
Just look at his 3pt% year by year since college.
Freshman Butler: 44.8%
Sophomore Butler: 29.4%
Rookie NBA: 47.3%
2nd year NBA: 34.6%
3rd year NBA: 41.5%
Currently: 28.2%
Looks like it's going to happen again this year too. I can't explain it, but it's bad, and at this point it's not just a fluke. It's a serious problem. Maybe he needs to see a sports psychologist or something.
