Players traded - Alec Burks, Trey Burke

Orlando Magic

Player traded Evan Never Google Fournier

Edited : also possibly Channing Frye to even out salaries and bait the Magic

Why Orlando does it - They gets Burks at a locked in smaller price tag. If they keep Fournier, they may be forced into paying him more than they want in this upcoming free agent season(2016), hes a restricted free agent. They already have Mario and Gordon. They may be thinking about their development. They also get a backup point guard.

Why the Jazz do it - Because Fournier is better than both of those players. A lot better. He's also french. Gives Gobert another reason to like playing here, maybe. It makes us better etc, we move on from the Burks and Burke fiasco, etc...

Maybe we have to sweeten it with one of those lousy first rounders we got. Not ours. Maybe both of them. Ya, both of them. Get it done. Time to be aggressive. You do it for the right players. I think Fournier might be the right guy.

I like the trade, but think Alec alone would be worth Fournier and some other consideration (e.g., protected pick). Salaries would also have to be matched.

I agree that Burks and Burke are the guys most appropriate for the Jazz to consider trading right now.

Guards that can shoot with a quick release are lighting up the league right now, and Fournier is becoming more reliable.

Alec for Fournier + pick-swap with protection would be my attempt, and I'd call that an A- trade. Still don't know how you match salaries.

I doubt they would give up Fournier for Alec. Alec is a terrible fit for Orlando.

It wouldn't happen this early in the season, but come January, the Magic may bite.

That's probably true, but I'm not sure giving them Trey Burke makes it much sweeter for Orly either. This would have to probably go 3-way.

I guess the basic argument here is that Alec doesn't space the floor, won't take open 3s, slows ball movement and doesn't match our defensive intensity?

Is that the idea?

I still like him for instant offense and think he rebounds a bit.

Yeah, I wouldn't do it right now. I want to give Burks until the trade deadline. Hopefully he can figure it out and start shooting better.

Ya, I think it's a possibility.

Biggest problem I see though, is they might be able to afford him. Oladipo's extention will be the year after I think. So it's hard to say.

They have the albatross contract of Channing Frye. Maybe they would ask us to take back that contract too. Maybe we have to.

Coming off of the injury I'm willing to give Burks at least this season to prove himself...

As it stand I'd give it a B+ for now...

Waiting might hurt his value though. Might help it. I lean on the side of its not going to help. I don't see Burks developing a well rounded game. Also, if you wait, maybe Fournier solidifies his breakout and the Magic start thinking they can't trade him.

But ya, we'd probably definitely wait. That's just how it will go.

I doubt the Jazz do anything that isn't saving them money.

Terrible idea, and terrible thread, the trade doesn't even work.. This is like something you'd see from knicks fans that still dont understand the basics of a salary cap. The Magic would have to give back Channing Frye who's signed thru 17/18 to balance it out

Hoopshype didn't have Tobias Harris salary up yet. I thought they were lower. Take back Channing Frye then.

This is just another reason why the Magic do it.

Watching the highlights of the Blazers game, I think I underestimated the defensive impact Exum had on opposing PGs. No way Lillard gets those same looks against Exum.

But he put the words in bold and caps and stuff... he must know what he is doing.

Fournier is okay. I like Burks better. Looking at the current salary environment I'd much rather have Burks at his number than whatever Evan will get next year. Lamb got $7M, Ross got $11M, so I think Evan gets like $25M... I'm only kind of kidding.

The AB disrespect is terrible. Also, Burke isn't a throw in for us right now... he is playing good. This trade doesn't work and it sucks.

-Why is this a good idea?

-The aim is to tank? right??

-Neto's to play all the minutes at PG??

-Fournier's a free agent next summer, whats the rush? he's going to lead the Jazz to the playoffs this season?

-Is Fournier not a bit redundant with Hayward and Hood??

I like it a lot. Fournier is a good player. Could end up better than Mario.

I don't see why Orlando does it though. They don't have a need for Burks, but if Trey keeps on playing like this they might like him. I think they might go for Lyles. He would fit better there.
