Greg Popovich says "suck it" to the NBA.

I think Stern really got pissed because Pop did what Stern is always doing.....adjusted the storylines of a high profile, nationally televised game.

Stern sets the schedule for the Thursday night games. He set the spurs back to back and 6 games in 9 nights on the road or whatever it was, AND Stern picks the officials for every stinking game. Let me say that again, Stern picks the officals for every game.

If you didn't know the NBA (and the Casinos) meticulously track the officals, the calls they make and the outcomes of the games. By assigning the right crew to any game Stern can 'help' achieve the desired outcome. How is that fair to the other teams or the fans?

Love the Jazz, but the NBA smells funny.

Ya seems like they could get in some trouble over it for sure.

If the Spur's fans are okay with the decision, that is all that matters. I would be completely okay with the Jazz resting players even early in the season to try to ensure that they stay healthy enough to continue to play and make it into the playoffs. And Stern can fine SA all he wants but they will make the same decision again if presented with a situation (they may just make there protest a little less obvious)

Concerning the people who drove and paid good money to watch the heat, I drive 6 hours to see my one jazz game a year and I pay to get decent tickets and for me, I just like to see my team win. I guess I'm just strange that way...

So if your one game this season hastened to be the one time the heat came to SLC, and you paid the big bucks for a ticket and drive the 6 hours, only to find that LeBron, Wade, Bosh, and Allen were already back in Miami.... You would not feel at least a little cheated?

What if this went the other way. What if you were a Jazz fan who paid the big bucks and made the long drive to see your 1 have this season when the Jazz made their 1 trip to Miami. And when you got there you found out Favors, Jefferson, Millsap, and Hayward were all back in SLC. Surely that would not be okay, right?
 
If Pop was seriously genuine about resting some of his players, he would have had them dress for the Miami game and play them limited or no minutes. If Pop was serious about getting into a public pissing contest with the NBA over a scheduling gripe, he would have sent those players home. Which did he choose?

The last time I checked, everything in the NBA balances out scheduling wise. You get 41 at home and 41 on the road. Longer than average home stands and road trips are something each team deals with during the course of the season.

I can honestly say that if Miami's four best players did not even show up to the game, I wouldn't feel cheated at all. Concerning the Jazz player situation, yes, I would feel a little cheated (and only because that would pretty much eliminate any chance the Jazz had to win that game. That being said, and if there were the same risks that San Antonio's older guys face (as they are all older and injury prone) I would accept the fact that Pop decided to send them home instead of risking them getting injured. The opportunity to compete for a championship in June and be able to watch those games on TV would override the disappointment of not being able to see them play in person.
