Why would this be a horrible move? What exactly has Hayward done that makes him almost untouchable? His big game performances? His ability to dribble in the lane and have the ball stolen? His ability to get to the basket and then jump in the air and pass it to someone outside?
I like Hayward but if trading him nets the team some good assets, see you Gordon. For all those hoping for a tank, what would you think if the Jazz were offered the 5th pick in the draft and a chance at Trey Burke (or someone else) for Hayward? I think the Jazz think long and hard about it. Then again, according to Jazz Nation, Hayward was the MVP of the team.

2012-13..... 82 games long
remember that thing called the lockout?

Hayward had a lot of great games after being inserted in the starting lineup. It's a mental thing with him IMO. He just has to be more aggressive.
yeah, he did look tentative, especially the last three games.
Duh, really? He didn't play 82 games, but the point is that even with the injury he played more minutes than last year. Everybody's MPG were down but I think you have look at total minutes played. It's a long season, players are better off with fewer minutes per game. Millsap played 32.8 last year and 30.4 this year but he played 275 more minutes. And to be honest, he looked tired to me the last few games. If a guy plays 35 MPG you rarely get 35 minutes of maximum effort.
Like last night when he aggressively drove baseline, Gasol pulled out to cut him off and Hay hit Al for an open lay-up. Then Hay got chewed out by Ty as he ran back down the court and was pulled out a few seconds later not to return until the closing minutes of the first half.
When was the last time we actually made a real trade? Come on now.
I think the Jazz have actually made quite a few trades over the years. I would not say that we trade the most in the league, but probably in the middle somewhere. The key is that we usually make pretty good trades. The D Will trade will probably turn out decent. The Giricek trade was a slam dunk. The Jazz, under Kevin OConner usually dont make dumb trades, even if they don't trade as often as the fans would want.
The point is that we don't trade players unless we can either get an upgrade for nothing (Harris), for money purposes (Brewer, Maynor), or because they have attitude issues (Giricek, Deron) and Hayward wouldn't fit any of those roles.
Agree. I could see udflyer make a post about Kanter, Burks or Favors, but GTime got PTime. And he often had absolutely putrid games in terms of his shooting. But I haven't given up on him yet. He took a giant leap forward in terms of initiating the offense; now he just needs to grow into that role and work on his shooting. So, moving Hayward to the starting position and having him initiate the offence with Mo playing the off guard multiple times a game is Corbin not believing in him? I need to re-take english class, I could have sword that it meant something else.
And some trades have been shot down by players. I read a few days ago that it wasn't Larry H. that vetoed the Marion-Ak deal. Shawn refused to accept the trade and said he wouldn't report. That was like the proverbial stone thrown in the ocean...who knows what the ripple effect would have been had the Jazz been able to get out from under their cap problems a year earlier. When was the last time we actually made a real trade? Come on now.
