What's new

Gun to your head - Which draft class would you rather have?

Isn't he the starting PG for his national team? I agree that he has a lot of work to do before he assumes that role full time in the NBA, but everything that is out there that I have read on him says he will play PG in the league. No expert on him so very well could be wrong, but would love a legit 6-6 PG running our team for the next 10 plus years.

He was for his youth teams, but it will be interesting to see what they do with him on the senior team. I have to think they'll start Dellavedova at the point. Not sure who they have at the two.

I have to think Exum is a combo guard right now, but if he is going to flourish in the NBA it will be at the point.

Right now, I go with Favors and Hayward as the best two way pair of the bunch. Kanter and Burks have great offensive potential, but are lacking defensively. Burke and Gobert were good picks in a bad draft. As much as I love Rudy's attitude and defensive potential, I think the team is best off with both of them coming in off the bench. If Exum becomes the player that the Jazz hope he will be - a true, All Star #1 option - then him and my grandma would be the best draft. . . Hood is a bonus.

I'm hoping for a Favors, Kanter, Hayward, Burks and Exum starting lineup, with Gobert, Evans/Novak, Hood, and Burke playing off the bench. Still hope they bring over Tomic and Neto also. This lineup changes if they make a run for a different starting SF (like Deng or Ariza) and keep Hayward primarily at SG.

As for Exum, I see him as a future PG who can dominate because of his size, speed and passing. Hopefully Snyder and Co. can help coach up his shot mechanics, P&R decision making and shot selection. I think it depends on who is on the court with him. Hayward and/or Burks and he's the primary PG - leading the charge and facilitating. When Burke or (eventually) Neto are out there with him, they go with a 2 PG system that can push up the court from either side. In that instance, I see him as an off ball playmaker.

I'm ALL-IN on Exum and Hood.

I'd take Hayward and Favors as my #2. But, srs, I hope Burks and Kanter make me change my mind next year. That'd be a good year.

My best pair -- and I'm basing this mostly on potential -- is Exum and Favors.

Gotta throw a shout out to Rudy, though. I really can't wait to see him get serious minutes. I'm probably cheering for him harder than I am for anyone else (Dante a close second).

All of this.

While we are dreaming about lineups, how about this lineup?

Exum
Burks
Hayward
Millsap
Favors

I like that lineups chances at the 4/5 seed in the playoffs.

i say ellis269's grandma and burks is the best tandem

Burks Kanter...

These boys play well together...

That give and go last year between them... Solid!!!

Right now I'd say Hayward and Favors, but they have had the most opportunities, and have been able to show what they can do.

Burks got to show a lot last year, but that was mostly off the bench. Hayward excelled off the bench 2 years ago as well. Kanter has shown flashes, but hasn't been able to be consistently reliable, especially on defense.

Burke was good for a rookie, but needs to take a step forward. We'll know a lot more about him after this year. Gobert is a project with great height and hustle, but he needs a few years before we'll know even what his ceiling can even be.

Exum and hood have the potential to be the best of the group, but neither has played in the NBA yet.

Jazz have done pretty well in the draft. I think every pick has the potential to be a good one. Most teams would be jealous of the Jazz success rate recently.

lol, I'd say ask me in 5 years. :) Seriously, I'd take Favors/ Hayward. Solid start to a rebuilding team.

Depending on how Kanter and Burks respond to more minutes, coaching and responsibility, I wouldn't mind bringing back both Millsap and Carroll. They both liked Coach Q and liked Utah. It'll cost more money than they got last time, but I can see both of them as being good vets to bring back. Maybe at the trade deadline depending on how the young core take to the new regime.
