Hardy isn’t the guy for this job. It isn’t working

I believe Hardy is a great basketball coach, but he’s not right for this Jazz rebuild. All he’s done is botch it.

He’s been hell bent on playing mediocre veterans pointless big minutes his entire time here. He plays head games with the young players and destroys their confidence. The Jazz draft picks as a whole aren’t developing (maybe his fault, maybe not, but the fact still stands).

This rebuild has mostly been botched so far. It’s ridiculous where the Jazz sit in the standings and we still have games Svi is playing 30+ minutes and Sensabaugh/Collier play 6. It’s absurd to be giving Nurkic & Love such big minutes over Filipowski & Hendricks.

There’s so many issues. You can visibly see the young players frustrated and the mind games mess with their confidence.

If the Jazz were in the playoffs, or the vets were helping the Jazz be a bottom 3 team, it would make sense. But they’re doing nothing to help. It’s year 4 of this and it’s rinse and repeat the same story every year. I’m done with Hardy.

I don't understand how people can be so convinced of this while also watching the season Keyonte is having. If visible frustration is an indicator of poor development, then how do we explain Keyonte? He was the most visibly frustrated young player around. It's also noteworthy how quickly Keyonte defends Will's actions. I think the players actually really support him.

I think Hardy is on the right path. It makes sense to enforce good reps. Some people seem to think quantity automatically results in better quality. The opposite is more often the case if the reps in question are bad reps. That doesn't lead to positive development; it leads to entrenching bad habits and obstructs development.

We need a proper development coach more than anything. What happened to Brice and Tay is really concerning. Just no clear role for these young guys whatsoever. Even for guys who showed flashes like Filip and Collier have taken a step back this year. And with this current trajectory that Ace is on, not sure there is much stardom waiting ahead of him either.

All those love given to Love, Nurk and Svi who had no future with the team is giving me all the Ty Corbin vibe.

Also hurts when you predecessor is the best development coach in the league who consistently make something out of nothing. Turning JJ, Daniels, Okongwu and now NAW from nobodies into stars in Atlanta.

Well.. you could have Ty Corbin.

I thought you were after a contractor for a patio extension or something. I was gonna say he's probably not the guy for that with you know the NBA coaching gig. I actually ran into Ty Corbin in the car park at Best Buy last week, he's working as a handyman now, I've got him coming round to do my gutters next week.

Right now we're trying to win with what we have, so Hardy gives minutes to the guys who deserve them. He's been very open about it for a long time. There has to be accountability. If the youngins can't handle such a basic part of being a professional basketball player, that's on them.

Give me a break. His system is 100% obvious and he even tells it to media. Play well and do the right things, and you get minutes. Its not rocket science.

He even micromanages the youth minutes within games based on how the kids play. He gave WCJ 29 minutes and TH 24 minutes last game, when they both were feeling it. They werent "entitled to those minutes" based on history... but they deserved them just based on playing well in that particular game. There are tons of coaches who wont do that, but instead have glued their rotations into the back of their eyelids and will not change them even between games, no matter how the kids perform.

Futhermore, Key was NOT held accountable year 1, and was allowed to play through his mistakes including some dumb temper tantrums. That resulted in almost ZERO progress for year 2. Then year 2 Hardy made him come off the bench and reduced his green light and role, sending him a warning in the process... and that resulted in significant progress coming into this year.

Every single coach in the NBA plays head games to some extent, but thats part of developing actual professional atheles instead of entitled divas who are more interested in their image/bags than they are about actually competing in this sport.

I’ve complained a lot about who Hardy plays and his focus on chasing wins. But it really is more of a FO to decide to focus more on development and/or. I believe that if the FO gave some kind of directive Hardy would follow. He’s done it in the past, but I don’t think the FO has so far this year.

I haven’t been to Best Buy like HH, but I’m guessing we will make the pivot again at some point. Fwiw, I don’t think it will really make or break player development to play or not play. But I don’t think Hardy’s current rotation style is based on development more than it is about winning.

As far as Hardy’s history of accountability and favorites….ill just say that’s a mixed bag lol.

last time I checked Clarkson is a rotation player on a top 5 team in teh NBA.
Oh you think I said Clarkson isn't a rotation player on a top 5 team in the NBA. I see why you are confused now. I didn't say that.

It's not realistic to judge how good or bad hardy is as a coach or whether or not he is the right coach for the jazz imo.
His tenure here has been handcuffed by tanking and big time roster turnover and shenanigans of sitting healthy guys and a front office preferring losses etc.

Next year I will start to judge him much more. We should see him at full coaching strength and motivation next season.

The entire basketball community has nothing but praise for Hardy but a few clowns on here wants to act like he isnt a great coach because not every single rookie contract player looks like a future star.

I think Hardy has been good, but I would like to see guys like Lauri limited to about 30 minutes to minimize injury and provide a little more opportunity for the young guys to play more and prove themselves.

When is fair to hold players/Hardy accountable for bad defensive rotations?

It drives me crazy to watch other teams do it so much better.
